Diamond Silver vs. Silver Arrow
Curious as to what the new Diamond Silver would look like, multiple dealers have told me it is the same color as the special silver that was on the 2002 special edition Silver Arrow SL's. I don't know where this got started, but it appears to be misinformation. I finally had a chance to see a Diamond Silver SL500 in person last week and it is nothing like the Silver Arrow. The Silver Arrow silver is simply Brilliant Silver with a double dose of metalllic added into the mix resulting in no change in hue. However, the Diamond Silver does indeed have a blue tinge to it as suggested by the paint samples in the factory brochure. Also it does not appear to have as much added metallic as the Silver Arrow SL's demonstrated.
IMHO the Diamond Silver is a great color for the SL and the prep guys working on the SL I saw were unanimous in their opinion as well praising how good the SL looked in Diamond Silver.

2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
I have a Diamond Silver SL500 Sport with Black Leather Looks great. But I still do not know what to order the SL55 AMG in. My top picks are Brilliant silver with Black, Diamond Silver with Black, Orian Blue with Black, & Firemist with Black. I think I will stay with the exclusive aluminum trim no matter what exterior I pick.
I am not sure if Diamond Silver looks tough enough for a SL55 AMG with 500HP!
What is your top pick?

Tough decision
The only way to truly showcase the AMG's aggressive stance would be to go with all black which has the added bonus of disguising the panorama roof as well.
Such would not be my personal choice though as I'm not a fan of black cars generally given their high required maintenance to keep them looking mirror black.
I would opt for the diamond silver with the berry red interior.

I dont like the blue tint of the diamond silver. I have blue cars, and Im tired of them. And if I had to have diamond, i would go for light interior like white or tan. I dont like to mix blue with black

I'd initially been looking for a cabrio in Selenite Gray, but then found one in Iridium Silver optioned the way I wanted, so I bought it.
I find that it's a much nicer/richer silver in person than in photos, and really shows the lines of the car to great effect. I've come to be very happy I went with this and not Selenite. My very first filling up at a gas station, the guy at the opposite pump told me that it was "the most beautiful car he'd ever seen." That kinda made my night.
Also, silver is kind of the official Mercedes color. I imagine it helps resale too.
