AIRMATIC Problem?

The driver's side seems to slowly sink lower everyday it isn't driven ('04 SL55 8K), I came home yesterday and the whole left side was about two inches lower than the right side, I started the car, raised it up with AIRMATIC, then put it at the lowest level. Today it is where it is supposed to be. Just curious if I was alone, I thought I had read about it at one time, but I couldn't find any information while scrolling the the archives on the forum. Any help would be appreciated.

same thing
i have an 03 SL55 and have noticed this just once in a while. It's REALLY bad on my friend's 03 SL55. If he lets it sit for more than 1/2 hour, bam! Slammed to the ground on the driver side. This used to happen in my S600 as well, although it was the passanger rear.

dunno about any fixes...

No error messages in the display? My '03 SL55 throws an "ABC! Visit Workshop" malfunction in my face every other day since a couple of weeks when I start the car. But when I stop/start the car the error is gone (reboot?). I'll take it to the workshop soon as per display advice.

You don't have AIRMATIC you have ABC.

Your problem is a leaking valve, most likely in the front valve block, that is letting the fluid out of the strut and lowering that corner of the vehicle.

Let's hope it isn't your shocks
Just had to change the rear two shocks on my SL55 (03)... cost me Euro 4000... that is after I managed to get a discount from MB on the parts. Good luck

In my case it was indeed a sensor... Inside the ABC strut. $1.500 lighter and the error was gone :-/

I had the same leaky valve or whatever on the left front. When I started the car it raised back up. Dealer replaced system under warranty.

Ouch..

Well thanks for the update, I went to Mercedes London wiht the problem and they told me I needes a new ABC pump and the unit and install was going to cost me £2200!

Ive since then found a merc specialits who burst out laughing when I told hime and said mercedes were flat out lying because if the ABC pump went then the power steering would go on my sl55. He is sure its a computer problem and is looking at the car for me today.

Im having a little pray!
