No one will know for sure. Everyone seems to have their own version based on the AMG reps at car shows (often the last to know anything along w/ dealerships), etc.

Its the SL55 for now, and the 07 is awesome, I just hope they keep the MSRP the same.

No there will not be a SL63... though the 6.3 engine MAY find its way into the SL in a turbo version (SL69).

I have visited the AMG facility on Daimler Chrysler organised trips before, so I know a few senior AMG people. I recently met one when he was in Singapore for the opening of the new Mercedes Benz Center here.

I asked him this question about a SL63, and his answer was not for another three years.

In response I asked how they decide when the 6.3 engine would go into the different models (since the CLS63 and CLK63 had just been announced the day before) and his answer was they work on the cars which are easiest to fit the engine into first.

That would be just in time for the new SL.

Sl63

I was told by Fletcher Jones the 63 engine will be in the new body style SL. Believe it or not there is already a waiting list for it. I jumped in 5th on the list.

2005 SL65
SL55 for now...

given the general belief that there won't be any form of the 6.3 in an SL any time soon, i just asked my sales rep to find me a loaded 55 from the used lot.

when the new engine and/ or body arrive, i'll look to new again. but there's no way i'll chance a 20% depreciation hit if the unspeakable -- an SL63 -- arrives much sooner than anticipated.

thanks for the guidance.

If trademarks are an indicator then the 6.3L engine will power the SL69 in a turbo version...

I believe it. Just yesterday my neighbor told me he was also on the list.

Going by the longevity of the model life of previous SLs I would hazard a guess that the next one will not see the light of day in production form before early next decade. That's why I love them so much, I am on my third one now.
