The F1 package in ROW offers the carbon fiber trim. Now don't tell me that MBUSA's 030 is not offering that.
By the way, there are two versions of black CF trim on an SL. One is called the fine black CF trim which is the ones that you see at shows, and then there is the one called the coarse black CF trim, which is the ones that put in the SL55 F1 pace car

I don't know if that is exclusive to the 030 package or an option.
He does not know anything about the 2 different types.
And... the Sat. radio, it isn't an option. The "nub" that sits on the trunk may not be deletable. Investigation is ongoing.
Should have the exact contents of the 030 package tomorrow

Congrats on order
What's latest on whether SL55 will be swapped into SL63 by year-end? My dealer has advised repeat custs to wait until 63 is out, rather than getting this revised '07 55.....
Has anyone ever seen N-ring times for '06/'07 SL55 w/PP vs 55 w/o PP? Should be interesting to see how much '07's revisions improve N-ring times....

but, Your dealer sounds like a true idiot.
Why wouldn't you want to sell a car now, and then one later. That's how you get to have repeat customers.
I doubt any of the same salesman will be there in 2 years when the new one comes out.

I bought that piece of luggage off E-Bay but it was only 8 inches wide. I believe I got ripped off, but I'm not sure. It looked like the pictures in the "Collection." Anyway I tried to order another one yesterday at the Mercedes dealer in Ann Arbor and was told it has been discontinued. Anyone know why?

The new body work on the '07s is excellent. However, I am not crazy about the new exhaust tips they put on it. Maybe an Eisenmann setup would be worth a look. Much better look and incredible sound.

I love my CLS55.
I love convertibles
The CLS has made me want more....
Bottom line is handling is important to me. I would rather give up a tenth or two so as to have the better handling vehicle. I may never "drag" (not that I wouldn't want to) but I do drive the real world roads.
With the Renntech mods that will be added, We'll have as much power as the V-12
I have agonized for months over which SL to buy.
I think it was the Performance Package that did it for the 55

I was in your position a few months back and went the other way. At the end of the day these are street cars and I doubt anyone would ever see a handling difference by the minimal weight diff. Its like driving a 55 with 1/4 tank of gas vs. full. With no gauge who could tell the difference? On a track, maybe but street I don't see it. The power on the other hand is very noticable. I think for the price of an SL55 with the PP you can find a severely discounted SL65 which in my opinion would be the better deal. Not that either won't drop like a rock but the AMG 65 is a special car.
