would anyone happen to have a rough idea of the yearly USA import numbers for the SL55 and SL65?

I do! For the AMGs minimal power increasements are announced from 500hp to 517hp for the SL55 and the SL65 has a similar 'token' increasement. Other than that I believe the under the hood technical enhancements of the entire line (like ABC) will be incorporated. And new rims for the SL55.

sprins...

i'd previously thought the 65s already had improved ABC. thanks for enlightening me.

regarding the power increases, do you know if the 6.0 L engines are getting the additional valve/cylinder?

Could be that the 65 keeps the ABC it had, the 55 definitely gets an ABC update (according to the press-release). Check here for some links: https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....02&postcount=4

Nope. Same engines. They fiddled with the engine management and perhaps something about the air intake, but other than that the AMGs keep the same engines.

65 or 55 or wait or what...

i keep waffling between a preowned 55 and 65, and when to get it. or should i wait for the new models to arrive, then take advantage of likely price declines for the preowned cars.

there was a 2500 mile starmarked SL 65 down at mb miami with a 140k ask. i thought that wasn't unreasonable. as long as the MY7 65 is substantially the same as previous 65s, i think it'd be sensible to wait just a while longer.

what do you think?

Here's a recent article about the SL55 AMG Facelift. Lots of info here.

I would say make a deal on that and you can't go wrong. I may be a bit biased but the car is unbelievable. At that price you are close to a new 55 and at only 2500 miles the car is still new. Just my opinion.

opinions are just what i was soliciting. thank you.

but do you think it'd be wise to wait another couple of months and probably be rewarded with another 10k+ discount?

I doubt it. You are coming into prime convert season on the east coast and I already see inventory shrinking a bit as the weather turns. Go play hardball and see what number you can get. You can always walk away but you will know where they stand. For a couple grand it isn't worth losing the summer.

yes, inventory has begun to shrink a bit, but only after swelling significantly.

nevertheless, you're right about the season.

thanks.
