I am more interested in the clear third brake light.
Do you guys think it will fit right in? I think it will
look cleaner on my silver SL.

Do you have the part number? My place said it wasn't available yet?

There will be no fitment issues. Neither on the grille, nor on the clear third brake light.

I just got the facelifted clear tail lights for my 55 (I didn't like the blacked out lenses). They were way to expensive..., but I love their look, since they make the rear of the car look wider. ... errr... to me at least.

Ill get it for you tomorrow.. My dealer had to order it from Germany , took a week.

I am still debating on the grill... I think Id rather invest in the SL65 front bumper and the new chrome door sills.

Someone had said there would be fitment issues with the 2007 SL tails into the 2003-2006 cars? Anyone confirm or deny this?

Have you installed the 07 grill.. I ordered an 07 grill for an 03 SL500 and the bumper is totally different on the bottom side of the grill and it does not fit. let me know if maybe the sl55 is compatible. grill i ordered was for 07 sl550. Thanks

I just got the 2007 grille AND frontbumper. Installing the grille alone fits theoretically, but doesn't look good, since there'll be a gap between the lower end of the grill and the bumper.

Installing grille and bumper takes some other small parts to be installed, but is overall quite easy. I did the full 2007 look conversion (tail-lights, 3rd brake light, front bumper and grille). Looks great and wasn't really expensive, since fortunately MB only changed the above mentioned parts. I can recommend retrofitting the 2007 look, because it really boosts the overall atractiveness of the car (even my gf noticed the change, which means quite a lot... )

Here is a pic of a grille from an 07 SL550 w-sport pkg. There is a gap on the fins but the star is very tight in relation to the bumper.
Hope this helps

I can post some pics next Friday, since I'm not home right now. All I can say is that when you change the bumper AND the grille, the front looks 100% like the SL55 2007 model. I parked next to a 2007 to compare the look of both cars and not even an expert could spot the slightest difference. Hood and fenders defintitely remained untouched with the 2007 facelift.

Also the painted bumper inlays at the left and right corner of the front bumper (which hold the PTS park sensors) are identical.

The part number for the AMG SL55 frontbumper (non performance package) is B66036286 (for cars with PTS) and I think it's B66036285 for cars without PTS (no holes drilled for the sensors). This part number includes all the lower grilles and even the fog lights. In Germany that set costs around 800 Euro (incl. German VAT). I would highly recommend to order the whole bumper set through that part number rather than ordering all the parts alone, since the latter would be way more expensive. However, the grille is not included. The AMG grille's (painted glossy black with chrom strips) part number is: A2308802083.

You'll also need some small (and cheap) parts for the inner front fenders and the underbody panels, but I don't have the parts number for those, since they were directly ordered through my dealer without notifying me.

What is the difference on the 07 sl65 and the 05 sl65 except the cutout in the front bumper? Any pics showing the 07 changes?

Main (visual) differences: Different grille, slightly changed frontbumper with round, chrome-framed fog lights, clear tail lights and white 3rd brake light. Wheels remain the same, aluminium colored roof-button, carbon-black interior, shift paddles, more available interior colors.

Do you think the front bumper is worth changing just to get the extra fin in the cutout and chrome ring? I do like the steering wheels, carbon trim and alum roof opener. How are the tail lights different? I see the clear brake light?

I posted on the MBworld roadster site. I had the 07 grille installed on my 04 SL55. No problem. 3 minutes. A couple of screws and 2 clips. The front bumper is on the way.

I can not post pictures as I don't have any and I wouldn't know how to post them anyway. There are pictures of the car at www.motorwerksgroup.com. If I ever get computer literate I'll post away. In the meantime I sure enjoy viewing all of you guys pictures and getting info.
