Well, a Carrera GT would definitely beat it (provided driver wasn't comatose). The Ford GT would probably also beat it. The only published 0-150mph time for SL65 was 20.5 seconds under very hot conditions. However, Car & Driver tested a previous SL65 to a much faster acceleration times but only up to 130mph (13.4 sec). I imagine under optimal conditions that would translate into around 17-18 seconds 0-150 (I know you were asking about 0-155mph limiter but close enough). The Ford GT has run 16.9 to 19.1 (the higher time in the same heat the SL65 ran in). The C6 Corvette Z06 has run 0-150 in as fast as 17.7 sec. The new 997 TT ran 19.1 sec. For additional perspective, the BMW M6 has been tested at 19.5 sec 0-150. The new Ferrari 599GTB also is said to run 0-150 in 15.3 sec. A properly running Ferrari 430 may also be as fast as the SL65 0-150, it was tested 0-130mph in 13.0 (not sure it could hold off the SL65's huge hp advantage the remaining 25mph).

It's really a different animal compared to the CGT or the Ford GT. The SL65 will be a dangerous opponent to the F430 and such cars in that class in highway tag. Due to tremendous midrange power it will pull nicely from a roll all the way to top end. That's what these cars are designed to do, perform at high speeds in comfort on the motorway.

BTW, Koenigsegg is extremely quick but, from tests I've seen, would probably break down before it reached triple figures.

That's a good point. SL65 will lose ground from launch on cars like the 430 and especially the 997TT, but accelerating from 100-150 they won't be able to match AMG's flagship. It would be intersting to see how the SLR faired at those speeds too, though it still probably have the edge. The new 722 version certainly would. There was a businessman driving a black SLR downtown today next to me at the lights. Nice machine but if you don't track then the 65 probably makes more sense.

Interesting. I'll try and find it. If the 65 is stock, which is most likely, then it really does prove that the SL65 has got to be one of THE best second hand buys on the market. The money they lose after a year is not reflective of the car's performance or dual coupe/convertible nature.

Cars that would beat the SL65 from 0-150:
Veyron ~ 1.2 million
Saleen S7 TT ~500K
Mclaren F1 ~ 1 million
Enzo ~ 650K
Ferrari 599 ~ 300K, i think
CGT ~ 400K
FGT ~ 150K
C6 Z06 ~ 70K
FGT: 16.9
C6 Z06: 17.5 (Motor Trend)
Not sure about the rest, but I am sure they all have better and more spectacular times than the FGT and Z06.
The Z06 pulls VERY hard to 162, but will fallshort once shifted into 5th gear at 162 mph
I believe

a Black
road and track and a web page have some #s
I think R&T did a spread sheet on similar numbers last month? I also found a web page from a Euro mag that did a similar spread. You guys hit most of the cars, but don't forget about the Lambo G...I rememmber it on the list too.
