Utopia...What the SL does best.
Tonight I 'discovered' what this car can really do -- it had nothing to do with performance.
71 degrees, a slight nip in the New England air, a gentle reminder of winter.
An open stretch of 2 lane highway surrounded by night, and the occasional wisp of passing trees.
A panoramic view of a star lit sky.
Top down, windows up, no windscreen.
After a couple of miles of driving, and fiddling that equilibrium of warmth from the blower, and circulating cool air blends to create a perfect ambient temperature.
Distronic set to 65, Transmission in Comfort, Sport ABC off, heated seats on, headrest raised and folded out to just the right position.
Massage seats activated, and Standard Jazz on Sirius (‘Medium sized room’ DSP setting.)
There have been many occasions that I've gotten a wonderful feeling driving this car, but it was tonight, that I caught a glimpse of what its all about. This car is a dream, a cruiser with all the right amenities, and just enough panache to give you that feeling that you only get when combining all these ingredients in a automobile.
Stitched leather, aluminum accents, alcantara, and loads of mechanical, and electronic enhancements that disappear into the background to give you that moment of utopia.

I know the kind of New England night you are speaking of. I have reached that feeling in quite a number of cars through the back roads of New Hampshire and Vermont. I like to drive hard......but sometimes this is just soooo right.

SL55 is the best.
We took the SL55 up to the Spa in Ojai for the weekend. The coast thru Malibu and on up thru Ventura. Top down, CD sounding great, beautiful
girl in the right seat. Yes, the SL55 is a dream to drive and enjoy.
Nice sun. Temp about 83. All the power you could ever need.
The exhaust sound cruising thru the canyons on CA33 is too much.
You see people turn their heads to see what that sound is.
I have had the car for 3 months now. All I can say is. If you got the
means. Go get yourself one of the best cars you could ever drive and enjoy.

please clarify
I have the COMMAND stock Bose system. I can select "surround" when i play a CD and that is it. Are ther other DSP options on the Bose COMMAND system? Thanks.
