New Owner - 05 SL 55 AMG - Question
Hey Guys,
I just purchased an 05 SL 55 AMG last week with 4,096 miles on the clock from our local Merz Dealer. Car was 1-owner and traded in after 18 months on an '07 by a wealthy businessman here. I got it cheap. Car is pristine/Black. One oil change.
My other car is a Turbo Charged Hayabusa with an air-air Intercooler. I love fast/quick stuff.
I am VERY interested in making the necessary mods to the Software/ECM and Supercharger-Pulley-Replacement to pull another 60 HP and 90 FT. lbs of torque out of this car and simultaneously eliminate the artificial 155 MPH speed restriction from the Factory.
The Assistant Service Manager has agreed to research the necessary parts and do the work and still honor the remaining 2 1/2 years of Warranty left on my car if I do not publicize what was done.
I have two questions:
What is a reasonable price to pay for these mods on my car??
Are the figures of 60 additional HP and 90 additional ft. lbs. of torque accurate for the pulley/ECU mods??

The E55 board covers mods in more detail.
The ASP pulley is $899 plus 2 hours of labor.
I think an ECU flash can be had for 2k.
These prices are not for Kleeman or Renn Tech mods, which will be high quality with prices to match.
I think 60 hp is reasonable but 90lbs may be optimistic.

Congrats on the new purchase! You are looking at $5K + install for the pulley/ECU. If you were looking to mod you should have looked at one of the V12 Biturbos

Unfortunately, I could not afford the V12 Bi-Car at present.........my limit was 95K out-the-door and this is my first Benz. I appreciate the input, it would appear anywhere from 3500-5500 would be the cost, depending upon where the parts are sourced from......now I know what to expect.

Your best bet is to call Oliver from SpeedtuningUSA. I did an ECU flash.......got 30-40Hp+ the same torque. I know they offer a pulley upgrade as well. It also removed the limiter.........btw...the 55 does 202mph!
.......and the best part was the flash was $400! $2K is rediculous to pay for an ECU flash.
