Frustration.....It Is Saturday Nite...

The one day in six that I have the luxury of staying up late and sleeping in on Sunday................

My -55 is sitting 15 feet from me without an ECU cuz I sent it to RennTech.

This is torture..........

https://mbworld.org/forums/c219/120269-hibernation-mode.html

That was the first time for me.

RENNtech was done at the dealership for the SL before I picked it up.

so worth it.

Yes, the Pulley is firmly in place w/the new belt.......my friend Robert, who owns a "sister-shop" near mine did the Pulley install for me this past Monday Night........in 2 1/2 hours.........he could have gone faster if I was not helping him......

P.S. The stocker is on pretty tight.....took a lot of shakin' to get it off.

It finally came.

Thanks, Adam,

How long (in driving hours) will it take for the ECU remap to take "full-effect" with the sub-systems in the car............3-4 driving hours???

You should have sent it to Oliver at SpeedtuningUSA. I sent mine on a Monday and had it back in the car Wed morning. Great performance and a hell of a lot cheaper than Renntech ($400)

everyone talks about speedtuningusa issues. i've used them since 03 without any problems. they have upgrade their software as needed. they are based in europe and work with a lot of different brands or cars. they are worth trying by anyone not sold a bunch of hype by the big name tuners. look at asp pulleys against the renntech pulley's. why the difference in price? just hype and bragging rights. same with vruss throttle body upgrade. no offense meant, just my opinion.

I have had their software for 3 years and have had zero problems. The product is great and the customer service excellent....and the price is right.

If you are paying $2-3K for a simple ECU flash, you are paying for a brand, not performance.

How much R&D can there be in a product that costs $400? None! Basically they are coping software from others and doing zero testing themselves.

Drove the -55 for the first time tonight with the ECU/Pulley upgrade from Adam at EuroElites/Renntech...........

Car got noticeably faster/quicker/and louder when yer foot goes past 1/4 throttle............

And it lost none of drivability comfort you want when you are putt-putting around town.........

I'm tickled.........

Car is noticably more responsive at lower throttle settings as well as Flat-Out ........Robert has only today tentatively agreed to install the IC pump.

(As long as the removal of the front bumper assembly is not too involved.)

He is not used to working on a Hi-End car...........but that makes us even, I am not used to owning one........

......and you know this first hand?

They actually upload the data from the specific ECU that they are working on and create a custom program for THAT application. I know this because I have done the custom programing on mine and my friend's cars. Uploaded the data from the ECU's...emailed the files....received the modified files....and uploaded to the car......and voila.

But by the off chance that you are correct that they are copying renntech or brabus or whom ever......OK, I can pay $3K for those, or buy it for $400......Hmmmmm...........

Actually, the costs are much closer than ya think...........I was gonna go with a different tuner..........but the more I heard about Renntech, the more I liked............

More money, yes??? But the other Pulley/ECU I priced was around 55% of what Renntech's system costs..........but then again, I have learned that in most cases, the extra dollars are backed by a great "support-after-the-sale" system.....and Renntech has an excellent support system, from what I have been told by other users.

Reliable Tech support is sometimes hard to find, these days......

Whatever.

Also Renntech is constantly improving its own software and helping existing clients to gain more torque and horsepower. Its the R&D and the customer service that makes Renntech the leader in aftermarket tuning.

yep thats why i went with renntech warranty and i went with adam for service. i have this safe fellin inside if anything goes wrong with my car adam will take care of it threw the dealer or renntech. to me that piece of mind is worth the extra cash. adam told me if something goes wrong with my car just call him he will send a tow truck and handle it. i bet 100 bucks speedtuning wont do anything like that.

Totally agree.........after all, if ya have enough to buy the car, you should have enough to mod it reliably...........

(It appears to me that many of the AMG cars are "overbuilt" and can really stand up to many-more HP/Torque modifications than the average "fast" car.....)

Now I am thinking about that 80 MM throttle body..........Hmmmmmm.

Dave
