SL55 (stock) owners : just a quick question?
Is it just me or does the stock exhausts on your SL55s sound quite a bit meatier than the one on the CLS55, at least thats what i noticed on the test drives?
(the SL55 was with the hood down, the CLS55 had the windows open)
Any SL55 owners try the CLS55 (or vice versa), please report
Sorry for the stupid question, but i am looking for a nice new loud car , and have currently set my mind on a brand new CLS55 or a 5000km used SL55 , so im curious...

kinda... thing is the manufacturers warranty here in bulgaria only applies if there are no modifications whatsoever to the car (not even the exhaust) , so yes its important

Not in the least, I actually would too. There is no sound like the sound of a ferrari screaming down the road. The new aston martin v8 vantage also has an amazing exhaust sound. I love the SL55 but for about the same price you can get a used 360, at least here in the states.

SL55 vs CLS55 Exhaust sound
Have had the experience of listening to both cars coming down the
track at the AMG Challenge this spring at full throttle.
The SL wins. It has that deeper roar to it.
But the CLS is the second place winner over the rest of the AMG
line up in exhaust tone. It has a slightly higher pitch. But sounds
very mean in its own right.
How many AMG`s in Bulgaria ?

If you want really loud, get the Kleeman stainless steel headers for the SL55. Not very noticable when crusing but at WOT...shock and awe. I floor mine at just about every underpass just to hear it.

2 problems though:
1) Warranty (read above), no external modifications allowed under terms and conditions of warranty (in bulgaria).
2) Availability... nearest Kleemann is around 500km away and they are in Greece, so not gonna happen

SL/M6
Ive heard both and the SL sounds a bit meaner...but the CLS sounds almost as good...so it really comes down to if you need a a hard top convertible or a 4 door coupe.

You can listen here:

By the way, if you really wil go for the sound, buy an Aston Martin Vanquish:

unfortunately my friend, i dislike buying old cars... havent done it for the last 7 years, and dont intend to do it ever again (well maybe an old F430... with 3k miles on the clock )

Al those cars ar having just 1000 till 5000 km (:1,6 for miles) on the clock.....
And because of the extreem tax in my country the price different is big!
For example an Vanquish: new € 390.000,- ($ 503.100,-), 2 years old with 1800 km on the clock and for the price of € 180.000,- ($ 232.200,-) with 2 years of factory warranty left is not that bad, I think!
