07 third brake light

Does anyone have pictures they could post of the 07 third brake light. How is it different from the 06 and older style?

The AMG '03 to '06 had a black stripe in the middle covering the clear and amber lenses. The '07 AMG's have the same black stripe but they are now covering a clear lens.

What you are referring to are the non AMG SL's.

I am not refering to the regular brake lights, but the one
in the middle of the trunk, which is called the "third brake
light" as per the thread title.

Well, the 07 model has a clear (white) lense and the third brake light only looks red when illuminated. The third brake light on the 03-06 MYs have a red lense. Both are LED lights though.

if you look and click on the pix on my second post, you will see that the 07 AMG center third brake light is a clear smoked lens, while the prior years AMG center third brake light was a smoked red.

Yes, all brake lights are the same for any R230 SL. You can purchase one from your dealer.

The 3rd brake light on the '07+s is not clear, but smoked. I have it on my '05 R230. Plug and play.

2004 sl500
santomen, I just look at the light from parts.com. They have 2 different parts, W/sl65 or W/o sl65. I email and ask them the difference. They don't know and they won't even confirm it will fit a 2004 SL500. Anyone know the difference? Thanks.

It WILL fit ANY R230 (SL320, SL500, SL55, SL600, SL65). Come on now, why is that so hard to understand? ANY R230 SL. ANY. ANY.

So whose the next one to post: "What about mine?"

Santomen ,when you say lightly smoked is it a lightly smoked clear lens or a red lens lightly smoked.

lovecars2speeed it is an OEM part I got from my dealer... I cannot comment on parts.com - if they carry OEM parts they should carry this part. It is not expensive.

The lens is clear smoked, NOT red smoked. Looks much nicer than the original red unit, especially on a Black AMG.

2004 sl500
lovecars2speeed, I was at the dealer yesterday. The OEM part for 2004 SL500 is 2308200056, I supposed it is red. They were asking $230 plus $160 to install. It just doesn't look that hard to remove the back cover to install it. I took you guys recommendation and ordered 2308200756, clear smoked, from parts.com last night for $145.24 shipped. Parts.com did say that they carry OEM parts. I will let you know when it arrive. Mine broke because I had the trunk full one time and some post in other forum said that it is common cause for the light to break like that, especially the stuffs in the trunk was shifting as you drive. Be aware of that, so it won't happen again. By the way, glad to join this forum.
