SL55 AMG
0-100-0: 15.15 seconds

Autocar comparative test of 0-100-0 is out, SL55 does well given its weight.

0-30: 2.00 seconds
0-60: 4.70 seconds
0-100: 10.30 seconds

Think Time: 0.48 seconds

100-0: 4.37 seconds, 1.15g

Given the weight of the car, this braking performance is extraordinary.

Other cars:

TVR Tamora: 15.20 seconds
Pagini Zonda: 11.84 seconds
Murcielago: 13.90 seconds
911 T with Porsche Power Kit (450 bhp, 457 lb ft): 13.02 seconds

Jaguar F1 Race Car: 5.90 seconds

better!

The numbers are improved over their previous ones. At least they are not too far off. the 0-60 is still not quite there but that's probably due to their launch technique and probably a host of other factors. The braking is very impressive though! Probably thanks to the SBC system. I have driven the new E (SBC standard) and boy does that system wipe off speed when moving at high speeds. That was the first thing that stood out when I had taken my first drive of the new E. Then the better interior, handling etc.

Wow it beat the TVR tamora! nice

Yes, certainly is impressive. The braking system is absorbing an average of 440 kW as it slows the car, which is equivalent to taking about 3600 Amps out of a US wall socket or 1800 out of a European one.

blueSL,

How many meters it needs to make a stop at 100km/h on dry road?

( I think somebody posted it , but I don't remember.)

The "100" here refers of course to miles per hour, which is about 160 kph.

Don't know the exact answer to your question, but if a car takes 4.37 seconds to stop from 100 mph, assuming uniform retardation, it will cover about 97 metres or 318 feet in that time.

Too Young To Drive
That SL seriously needs to shed some weight. Brabus? Carlsson? Renntech? Maybe you could change the rear subframe to Titanium instead of the Steel AMG used... maybe change all the bodypanels to Carbon Fibre etc. you get what I'm going at. Should drastically improve performance.

Serious reduction in weight would equal serious increase in cost.

Hey Richard....how's the car working out?...I would love to see some pictures when you get a chance...

Yea, the car is excellent, but if your paying $13x,000 then why not spend like 20,000 more getting super light materials .

Just a stupid thought/idea that will never happen!
