Sl65 1/4
Do you guys run the 1/4 in dyno mode by chance? I could never get the car do do a burn out with esp off but today I put it in dyno mode and can you say holy smoke! It coverd the entire street in like 2 seconds. Needless to say I was very impressed and fell in love with the car all over. Just wondered if it is unsafe to run the 1/4 in dyno mode.

dont worry about a thing
if i can slow my race car down from 180 mph with half the size brakes after the 1/4 mile you have nothing to worry about
btw get some drag radials !!!

Im looking into getting some light weight wheels made for drag radials, reducing the unsprung weight coupled with the sticky tire should be a great combo at the track. Im still very worried about breaking something, my car hits very hard down low.

I am just going to get a set of rears off an e55 or any other one piece wheels in a 18x9.5 and that should be fine. I dont think you will notice much spending alot of money on a light weight wheel but you may notice more if you get a custom 16inch ccw and MT drag tire. Did you dyno your car?

I dont plan on spending alot, there are a few lightweight/cost effective options out there including ccw

At the strip I run drag radials on 18" rims on my SL65.
To really use the drag radials you will need to run in dyno mode. It is the only way to do a proper burn out to heat them up and it stops all the ESP intervention at launch.
I agree this is very dangerous since it shuts down ABS as well.
One of the issues that the SL65 has at the strip is short shifting due to wheel spin. You really need to run in M mode so that you can hold the gear. Just learn the shift points because it will hit the rev limiter faster than you think.
Also, I saw an SL65 almost it the wall twice when the driver was in dyno mode and didn't lift when he got way out of the groove. With no electronics to settle the car you really need to be in control.
Even with drag radials I have had issues with traction again at the 120 ft mark and just after the 1 to 2 shift. If the track is slippery the car can have serious issues and get away from you.
I have run a best of 11.69 on street tires and a best of 11.5 on drag radials. I think with the right track prep and temps I can go low 11.4X or high 11.3X's in stock form.
No issues with stopping for me.
Cheers

I don't have the issue in M mode, only S. In dyno mode I do not have this issue at all.
In addition, the trans is different between a 600 and the 65 and we have a LSD.
Do you have this problem in dyno mode?
