I don't see any flaired fenders-- infact it looks less than the 07's.

It would be unfortunate if the refreshed SL had CLS-styled headlights as mentioned in the article as they are probably the car's worst design element in my opinion.

The caption on that image is actually wrong. From the information I have (which I would have to say is very accurate and the source has been right every time..) the picture you are seeing is the overhaul of the SL for 2009.
Yup, 2009, not a typo.
I've seen these pictures before too and they have the right caption stating 2009 as the release date for this new look.

Just to clarify. The pictures you see below are for the 2009 SL "facelift". The 2013 complete makeover is actually (not surprisingly) still in design. Designing a car 6 years before it's release would actually be (how do they say) "stupid" (in German).

Yes, seems like a very strange morphing of the SL with two progressing facelifts before an entire new model. From the pics I would think it would take a second glance to tell them appart especially from behind.

The facelift strategy being followed for the SL line is very confusing. I thought SL just received a significant facelift for the 07 model year. While this 2009 facelift would be worth it if they expect the current car to stay in service till 2013, that would mean a model life of 11 years--car debuted in 2002--which is a bit long in the tooth. They would have to do a whole lot to the interior, as it is a serious area lacking.

Won't the 2009 SL have the new S/CL style interior, with the new Navi/phone/HardDrive/NightVision setup? It should, to keep it even, and especially since the SL is the flagship droptop.
The last S and CL class had a lifespan of 7 or slightly more years, so the all-new SL should arrive in 2010, not 2013. It just would make alot more sense.
