WOW great Hi Res video
thanks for sharing
the sl65 and the blue 997 turbo in the video are both yours?
on the video it seems that your 997 is consistently faster than the silver sl65 is that correct?
seeing the video make me want to keep my sl65 and get a 997 turbo.
Thanks again for your awesome videos Ben keep them coming

Heh, please do remember the 997 TT is so much lighter, and fully modded (not to mention all wheel drive
, and also has an aftermarket racing clutch.
) I think the SL 65 is a beast for only losing to the 997 TT by average 3/10ths.
Overall both are very fast cars, and Ben is lucky to have both!!!

Did you also tune Ben's 997 turbo as well Adam?

Ben or Adam,
What were the times on the 997turbo and sl65? How much power is on that 997turbo? Did you ever get a new dyno for Ben's 65? What is the weight of the 997tt 3500lbs, 6spd or tip?

'10 Porsche Turbo PDK, 500e, GL450
lets not forget
Ben's SL tranny needs reinforcing ... otherwise it would have been a bit closer! The 997 would have still been faster though ...

Remember, Ben's SL is close to 540 hp and 800 lbs of torque. And on that day, Ben did couple of hot laps averaging 11.4.
Not sure on the Porsche, but i think its above 500 hp now and 400 lbs of torque?

The SL was 580 RWHP / 820 RWTQ last time I successfully dyno'd it. The Porsche would dyno ~540 AWHP / 520 AWTQ.

What all is being done to your tranny? How can you tell it needs work, is it failing or are you just going by the numbers and getting it done before it breaks?

After speaking with Hartmut, they'll install upgraded clutch packs and swap torque converters. I'll take it back to the track after the work is complete.

i have yet to personally do before and after dynos with race fuel, iam somewhat suspect as to its actual return in HP, that being said i do run it at the track. What kind of figures is your car putting down?

Ben,
The guys who did my upgrades dynoed it (dynojet) around 550 rwhp, but they couldn’t find the tach so they couldn’t do the rwtq. They got like 510 rwhp stock when they dynoed it, so only a 40 peak difference, but there were much larger gains along the curve. They had quite a bit of trouble with the Renntech intercooler pumps, had to send one back and bleed the system several times.
I am looking for a competent place around where I live (Nashville area) to dyno it again. My Mercedes dealership just became an authorized Kleeman dealer so maybe they have access to one. I would also like to dyno my SL600.
Roger has an S65 (ran 11.0 in the quarter), and he says he dynoed it b4 and after with and without race fuel and there was a significant change in power. He won’t run anything in it less than 100 octane now.
What octane do you run in your car?

Stage 3 is the same as Stage 2 when it comes to the power. It's only 30 hp off Ben's car, and I am running 93 octane and hes running 100. I am sure if I run 100 I will be right there same as Ben. Also people get way too caught up with peak rwhp. It's the gains under the curve that really matter the most.
