"As Mercedes has always kept engines of the SL up to date, we do not expect much to change under the bonnet. Stuttgart will continue to offer the SL 350 (V6, 272 bhp), SL 500 (V8, 388 bhp) and SL 600 (V12, 517 bhp). The 500-bhp SL 55 AMG, however, will be replaced by the more powerful SL 63 AMG returning 525 bhp. The even hotter SL 65 AMG with no less than 612 bhp will remain on offer, to" Unquote

Adam,
Your talking about SL500 or 550?

A few months ago, I watched a German car-show and during a comparison, they mentioned an 'SL63' just as a short side-note. I mailed a few questions to AMG Germany concerning that car but - as I thought - never got an answer...

'Mercedes is preparing their SL sports-roadster once again before it’s going to be replaced by an all-new model in 2011'
It's correct though that we will still see the 55-engine for the MY2008.
My speculation (w/no non-public info) is new-tech SL will arrive next Summer (note '08s arrived early w/no changes)....what would be spectacular, if available at launch, is an SL63 Black Series, based upon this new-tech platform w/a fixed carbon fiber roof...would prob weigh 4000lbs and IMO would be only car that could supersede CL63 as best overall driver's car today....

Just an observation.
For those of you who look at the Dupont Registry...........I have had my eye on a little "diamond-in-the-rough" in the bottom right hand corner of page 176 of the August 07 Issue........(at least I did until I realized the minimum bid was well into the upper six-figure bracket.)
Too RicH For Me...........
(But I would jump on it for 150K)

M
The CLS headlights are very nice on an SL, cant wait to see a Red SL600 with Panoromic roof.
Only thing that excites me now is the upcoming SLR replacement from AMG.

This doesn't really "CONFIRM" anything. The picture without the black covering is obviously photoshopped and they can't even get the models right since they aren't continuing the SL 500.
None of this makes any sense. Thanks for the spy pics but an SL 63?.. come on now, what's the point in that?! Let's see here, SL 550, SL 600, SL 55 AMG, SL 65 AMG... let's just sqqqqqeeeze in SL 63 here. No.
Anyway, when I read an article involving MB AMG's and the word "reckon" in the same paragraph I have to pass it off as BS.

So true, so true.
