Is E55AMG or E63AMg faster than SL65?

Is it possible because of weight difference? I was under the impression that the SL65 was the fastest car Mercedes made outside of the SLR. Is that true? Quite a lot of talking going on on the E55AMG thread about the speed of their cars. I'm not really talking about top end because how often can you ever get close to that. I'm talking 0-60 and also 1/4 mile or even from 25-30MPH up to 110-120MPH. Love to hear the facts or at least some opinions!!
Thanks,

No need to fear, your car will destroy an E55 at any speeds.

Now, the only way a stock E55 will be able to keep up with you is if you lose major traction because of your monstrous torque. Besides that, you have the advantage at all speeds.

E55 is a good car but a stock E55 is not faster than a stock SL65 in a straight line. A modified E55 can be faster than a stock 65, of course.

There are quite a few 1/4 mile times on Dragtimes: http://www.dragtimes.com.

no way its faster.....no worries....

sl65 has a stock amg LSD, and ur v12 twin turbo is insane bro! if u really need more power, you can just get a ECU/TCU upgrade and ur set! not much out there can touch an sl65 with ecu/tcu upgrade on the highway.

After owning two E55's my seat-of-the-pants meter tells me the SL65 has much stronger acceleration. The only problem I see is our computer nanny controlling the torque from a stop and the traction. Once it hooks up there is absolutely no comparison.

I have a 05 E55 Renntech stage 5 and I do have experience on the street with a sl65 AMG. I can say that from 30 to 100mph my car was ahead of the SL65 by a nose..and this was on 5 occasions. So no doubt stock for stock the SL65 would win every time on the stock E55 or E63 cars.

Nah, SL65 should handily beat an E55/E63. The E55's may be beast's, but you have a fire breathing dragon!

Don't forget about the DTM. There are a few in the US that will give you and your SL65 a good whipping.

Where's Juice when you need him? The SL65 might be faster than the E63, but against the CLS63? I don't know man...I mean, the Z06 is faster than the E63 and the CLS63 is faster than the Z06, so.....

Just playin'

Thanks,
Most quick cars will get the jump on the 65 because of traction. The 65 is not a 0-60 car on the street. Every car I have raced has pulled out in front out of the hole no matter what technique I have used. Wide softer rear tires is probably a inexpensive mod many don't realize can make quite a difference as well.

I had an Evo jump almost two car lengths on me. I reeled him in at half track and my manhood was restored...

Here's what I know

One of my business partners owns a bone stock 05 E55.

I own an SL65 RENNTech.

From a dead stop, the E55 will get you by a fender up to about 40-50 mph when the SL65 finally gets decent traction, and at that point it is all over.. It is just a steady pull from there. I had my buddy by about 3 lenghts by 90 mph.

From a 50mph roll, the SL65 just pulls away.

Now, my buddy has just contacted Corey at Kleemann, and is getting a K4 kit installed next week in the E55.

So, when that get's done, I'll post the results.
