Anyone removed their mufflers on their 65?
I have a CL65 but since there is more traffic here, I figured I would ask the question:
A couple of people have been telling me to remove my mufflers on the 65 and just run straight pipes (no resonators on the 65). What is the sound change for those who have done this and is there a performance decrease?
When I made my 55 exhaust system more free flowing by installing the Eisenmann Race, removing the post cats and resonators, I actually lost low end torque. I dont want that to happen here but was looking for a more grunt if possible.

I don't know about the 65's, but on my last 2004 S600 TT, I did just that. And the sound turned out great! It sounded a bit more, but a lot better, than a SL65 I compared it with.
So I'm DEFINETLY gonna do the same with my 2004 SL600 I bought 3 weeks ago.
Sorry to hear about the loss in power though. But on a 600 it's kinda worth it, since they all sound like sewing machines when stock...
But I highly recommend that you do it, because a 65 must really sound incredibly nice then..! Besides, it's not irreversible either.
Good luck.

My guess is you lost low end torque because you removed the cats....I would think just removing the mufflers or resonators wouldn't have that effect. They are just sound devices.

What I acctually ment was, that I'm not sure if I lost any power or not, to be honest...
Since I had my S-class tuned to 541,3 RWHP at the same time, I'm sad to say that my opinion in the matter is a bit cloudy...
But even if there is a small loss in power, I'd still go for the sound 7 days a week...
