SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: My latest darling...

20" Rims (9 & 10) from Scottsdale AZ at eurowheelsusa.
Lip spoiler from myroadster.net. Thanks Murtaza for the tip!
Front bumper and grill are 2007 SL65.
Lowerd with links.
Side windows have the most transparent film. Rear film is darker.
Tuning is ECU with estimated 580-600 crank HP. But on thursday I'm taking it to the Dyno.
Exaust are straight aftermarket pipes with the resonators removed. I have the sound for you (as promised for two months ago) on a small movie, but I do not know how to attach it here... How should I do that?

Love the look of yur car, great job!

But what we did was, that we took the silencer/muffler/resonator (or what it's called) that is located about a feet or two from the bumper off completely.
And instead of that "thing", we just put a 2,5" pipe. Then on to that pipe, we put the tips (I think you call it tips)...
So the job is just done on the last 2-3 feet of the exaust.
And that's about it.
About the sound, it can sometimes be a bit loud. But not to the extent that I see people on the pavement complaining about it. But it does kinda goes beserk from 3500 rpm and up (with full throttle that is)... In a good kinda way...
And under 3500, with just a little throttle, it hardly sounds more than stock. Just different.
I don't think you'll regret it!

Ok I am all in with the sound portion but what about performance loss? I have a 65 and dont want to lose tq or hp due to a loss of back pressure. Any thoughts on this? I hear people say "turbos need to breathe" and then I hear "turbos need back pressure".
I guess I could just take the muffs off and do a seat of the pants test?

(The guys at Tumba Turbocenter that did the tuning 2 weeks ago, didn't have the time to dyno it at the time.
We settled for Stage 1, that they have refined a bit since the last time with my S-class last March. So we skipped Stage 2.
And they estimated the new Stage 1 should develope at least 600 HP crank.)
But this dyno at Nordic had a limit at 1000Nm torque, and that was reached by 4000 rpm and not even full throttle..! So, the dyno caved..!
No figures there.

So in order to get an estimated HP-figure, they hooked up some GPS equipment to the car.
And at these tests yesterday they had 16 degrees celsius (61F) outside temp, 2 people in the car, ESP on, stock 18" wheels,
and a quarter tank (98 oct).
Total weight 2160 Kg, or 4752 lbs.
(The sheet is attached.)
But with these numbers they say at Nordic, that it's all just physics, and that it's easy to calculate how much horsepowers a car has on it's weight and performance. It can only be off about 20 HP + or -, they say.
And they came up with 640 HP

I guess I could just take the muffs off and do a seat of the pants test?

Anyway, even if it would knock some HP off, I don't care...
The sound is just so much nicer!
And in your case, it'll probably sound even nicer...
Go 4 it.

Thanks, I think its time but I keep pushing it off for something else.

But strangly enough, I need 295 or even 305 at the rear (on a 10" rim). Because it doesn't fill out correctly.
I know that there are some differences between the different brands, and in this case I have Dunlopp SP 9000 there.
In front I have some Pirellis, and they fit perfectly on to 9"...
