Not taking away from the Benz...but didn't it seem like the guy in the Lambo was shifting really sluggishly? Even with correct shifting I think it still would have been dead even.

Great fun!! They need our ECU work!

The updated Gallardo in 09 will definitely have to have atleast 580 to 590 or more horsepower because even the RS6 will have about 580, and the updated twin-turbo 63 AMG and M5/M6 engines will most likely have atleast 580 or more also.
Audi owns lambo, and they know that the Gallardo is and should be considered atleast one whole car class above an RS6 in terms of performance especially. There is no way they would make the mistake of having a four-door wagon and family sedan be able to outrun a Gallardo in a straight line or any line for that matter... they would have to be completely out of their minds to allow any such thing to occur.
I'm betting around 600 HP for the updated Gallardo V-10, and then the Murci engine will be bumped to up over 700 or 720 HP to keep it definitively at the top of the range of Lambos. And don't forget Ferrari will be coming out with the F460 in 2010 which will most likely have atleast 560 HP and be even way faster than the 430 Scuderia!!!

The factories are always giving my engineers challenges! One of our biggest clients is a very large Lambo dealer, and they are always throwing us curves. Each car is tuned slightly differently, and each tune turns into a bit of custom work......but the clients are happy with their cars and the dealer keeps sending ECUs!Originally Posted by SL65amg

There is a video on youtube by Adjut (however you spell his name) in his BMW M6 convertible racing a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. (I believe. Spyder model. Not too sure)
The M6 keeps up till 120 mph or 130 then the Gallardo passes the M6 consistently and continues up ahead. He was told that the Gallardo is stock except obviously, for the exhaust mufflers.
But then again, the M6 Convertible weighs a lot heavier than the Coupe version and more than the M5 sedan.
Just pointing this out on account of me hearing the M5board guys claiming how their 6 speed M6 Vertibles walked, or pulled E63s, E55s, and SL55 AMGs...

I don't buy it. The M6 is RWD and has much better gearing with the 7-speed SMG. A Gallardo would take it from light to light but above 100mph the a properly driven M6 is faster unless its roof is down or the Lambo has engine mods.Originally Posted by SoS SWATxV2

Yes, SoS Swat is back!
From my experience, a Gallardo could definitely pull an SL55 up top and at basically all speeds. Not by much, but it'll edge it out.

My friend's modded E55 beat a Gallardo coupe, but the Gallardo was a non-sport edition and the E55 had a pulley.
My dad used to have an SL55 which I drove extensively. He now has a Gallardo sport edition with E-gear and the Lambo seems more brutal. I know, very unscientific but I am almost positive the Gallardo would pull it ever so slightly. I've also heard that some are running high 11's on the 1/4 mile stock, which would put it above the SL55. And awd means from the dig it will always have the advantage.
But maybe the 07 SL55's are fast enough to counter the Gallardo Sport Edition's extra hp too.

And don't forget Lambo is gonna update the Gallardo in a year or so and it'll most likely have around 600 HP with a little update to the interior/exterior probably too. That should make it about as fast as the current LP640 since it supposedly is a little more aerodynamic and lighter than a Murcielago.
Then again, like has been discussed recently on these forums, the E class, M5/M6, and RS6 coming in next year or so will also be severely upgraded with more power also. I expect chipped twin-turbo V-10 RS6's to put out over 700+ Horsepower, and then when people start upgrading the ECU's on the upcoming twin-turbo 63's and twin-turbo M5/M6's we will see well over 700+ horsepower from them also.
Another intesting scenario to ponder: How will next year's twin-turbo V-10 RS6 fare against a 2009 (updated to around 600 HP) Gallardo from let's say the dig to 150 MPH? Now what about these two from the dig again to 150 or 180 against the upcoming updated 63 AMG twin-turbo and the upcoming twin-turbo M5?

The next few years will be insane. Twin Turbo V8's and V10's from AMG, M, and Quattro, all exotics are going to be ridiculous (new Merc SLC, BMW's Z9, Porsche GT2 is already insane enough, Enzo successor, new McLaren), and even the baby AMG, the C63, is hitting 60 in under 4 seconds! And don't count out the Corvette ZR1, should be unstoppable.
