Agree .....

Beautiful rims!

Do you know if they are available from AMG for US SL55 AMG cars?

Not available as part of the official MB US "Collection"; I tried. I would imagine that they could be bought fairly easily from AMG Europe and installed.

These are not 19" wheels as the add says. These are the new style 18" from AMG only. The only 19" option that you can have is the same style as fitted to the F1 pace car.

Merc will only fit these if you have the body mods as per the Pace car as in hand modified wheel arches and bigger sills. The cost for this inc the wheels is 5000 euros. These are being fitted to my car AMG personal import spec as below. Should be here for Dec.

Amg SL55
Silver. Alpco
High power engine. 340KPH
Body kit as per F1 pace car
100MM cat exhaust
19" 3 part AMG split rimms as per pace car.
340KPH rated rubber.

I have been told that this is the only right hand drive fitted with the above. Had to push hard to get the work done. If you rerquire any info please get back to me david@drkltd.co.uk.

Very interesting

So there is a special “high powered engine” for derestricted cars! This must be the engine that recorded a 200 MPH+ top speed in the test comparing it with the Lamborghini and GT2 earlier this year. Davidxxxx, do you know the power output and torque of the modified version? Also, I assume the F1 body mods give you the side brake ducts on the front air dam I’ve seen pictured on the safety car. They look better than stock, I think. No doubt this is all unavailable in the US. You Europeans have all the fun!

I only found about the HP engine by pushing the supplying dealer in germany. none of the engine upgrade or the 19" rimms are listed any were here in the UK.

All the work is undertaken at the AMG race department. As far as the extra engine BHP is concerned all i can get out of the dealer is that there is an increase. My guess is a least 50bhp.

For your info AMG will not fit 19" rimms to the sl55 with out the body mods, due to German TUV laws. As soon as it arrives i will post some pics.

The Styling IV AMG rims (5 dual-spoke) are 2-piece, not 3-piece, and are very definitely (and only) available in 19" for the R230. (I have a set of 10" x 19" ET 28 Rears and 8.5"x 19" ET25 Fronts). As long as you stick to the MB homologated tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport 285/30 and 255/35 respectively), you don't have to modify the bodywork. You may however pick up a problem with the standard in-valve tyre pressure transmitters, though.

As I have said before, imho the Styling IV rim suits the car perfectly, especially in brilliant silver.

Just order them directly from AMG, it's no big deal (out here, anyway).

The F-1 Pace (Safety) Car has a set of 5-spoker 18" AMG Styling IIIs (1-piece), or have I missed something?

Regards
