SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Real pics of the new SL63 AMG
I fear its fouled-up looks are probably not going to grow on me.
Almost looks like they stopped random drug testing of the automotive design team

Daft question, but is it still an automatic?
I'm still not convinced about the 'facelift' v new model, the new C class had the same kind of changes at the front etc and this was the new model, how come when the SL gets the same kind of changes its called a 'facelift'?

anyway, i like this front end a lot, it looks like it wants to beat the ***** out of something. especially the lights... the old ones looked like they came off a w203.

. What is that old saying don't believe anything you read and only half of what you see. I read your post but I saw the pictures.
I don't know why - but that seems to be true especially on MB and BMW - they always look better in person..
Of course, I'm not saying that I eventually like everything after a few years.

either way, this car will sell. like it or not, people who buy $150,000 cars don't like to be seen in the old model. The current SL is pretty, but it's not a classic (yet?), so as soon as leases are up, why would they not move to the new shape?
but yes, de gustibus non est disputandum, and it's definitely not an easy car to look at! i am partial to how the grill is reminiscent of the old SEC coupes, i really like that..

I bet it would be pretty easy, but very expensive. Hood, headlights, grille and front fascia. Oh, and the side gills. I'm guessing several thousand dollars. Worth every penny in my opinion not to have to look at the abomination that the SL has become.
I've seen lots of comments from others here that say the new design will grow on them. I'm pretty sure it will not grow on me. To this day when I see the trunk lid and the headlights of the 7-series as it was introduced several years back, I still ask myself, "What were they thinking at BMW?" I hope the 6th generation restores the dignity of the SL.
