Nice find!

The front is end is really chunky from the profile, that hood line is nasty...

The back end look quite nice, thats a lot of plastic though, that diffuser needs to be CF...

Chunky front indeed... It's so obvious that MB just hacked off the front end of the new CL and welded onto the R230 front end. I find myself trying to fall in love with this new facelift, while the current SL feels like love at first sight.

Why does the front look ugly again all of the sudden. I hope it's just the picture.

I'm starting to hate it. It looks so weird with the rest of the body of the SL. Why does the old rear look better than the brand new front end? The bonnet looks so bulbous.

Maybe I should just start looking at F430s instead of the new SL63/65.

You can't compare F-cars to Mercedes, even the AMG's. Yes, the price of the AMG 63/65's are creeping higher and higher, but so are the F-cars.

Mercedes will always be daily drivable with affordable maintenance. F-cars are not daily drivable (unless you want to tank the resale value) and maintenance comes out to be about 1 dollar per mile (assuming 5k miles a year).

I have a lot of cars, including an F430, and I only drive the F-car under certain conditions.

It just doesn't do anything for me. Frankly, I'm disappointed - I think the new CL is better looking. The rear apron looks like it belongs on a pro-stock rice burner.

You're comparing a model facelift (r230) to a whole new body style (cl216).

That rear apron looks similar to the one from the F430.

Well at least no one will mistake it for a SL. Maybe people will think its the new SLK. But the SLK is way better looking then this thing. Kind of sad, I'm going to be laughing at anyone that buys one of these ugly things.

2010 CL65
Based upon wheels, my guess is this is SL63 030...

Prefer SL63 front headlts/nose much more vs goofy, Disneyesque peanut headlts of old-gen SL (have owned/enjoyed many new SL55/65 over past 5+yrs...great cars in their day, but (thankfully) tech moves on...I don't miss my cell phone from 5yrs ago either)...

Prefer rear diffuser/exhaust tips positioning more than ole SL55's ?stubbier exhaust tips...

Prefer the SL63 030 wheels vs the '07-'08 SL65 wheels (and much improved vs SL55 030 wheels)...

Hate the AirScarf head restraints....and the archaic Parktronic bulletholes (which no new-gen S/CL w/DistPlus has had for almost 2yrs now)....

Net, net...it's the latest/greatest-tech driver's AMG....will be trading in my CL63 030 for SL63 030 in ?May....even though I think CL63 030 is a better-looking/safer car, I suspect SL63 030 (esp w/MCT) will be a more enjoyable driver's car....will be fun to find out....and SLxx Blk is coming in Fall08 if SL63 030 isn't precise/fast enough....

From my experience, the F430 is very daily drivable and they don't tank in value as much as AMGs, anyway. Maintenance isn't too bad either.

Did anyone else notice that the new photos posted of the SL63 above were taken out in front of AMG Affalterbach? This car is sitting in the same location as what is shown on the AMG Affalterbach web site. Look here

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes-amg.do

The curious part, though, if these new photos were taken at AMGs headquarters, why is there a Porsche in the background in one of the new SL63 photos above? Traitor?!

Yeah, I noticed the pics were taken at the AMG headquarters.

I'm not really feelin the front end. The previous year looks waaay better. Mercedes dropped the ball on this new front end. It's almost hideous from some angles. What were they smoking?!!!

But the rear end is nice.

I agree its a bit chunky but thats the law now. The pedestrian protection laws in Europe require crush space between the hood and the motor to absorb the impact when a person falls on the hood.

No way to get around it. That is why all new MB's have a block like front end. There is really no way to have a low slung hood with a motor underneath at this point in time.

But with that said I actually really like the new 63's. Makes my 55 look like it should be a grocery getter -- just messing but I like the 63

Its not THAT bad...but I would never buy one....ever. If it was a whole new model with slightly different sides and rear (esp rear lights) I would def. consider it.

Not entirely true. Jaguar created a mechanism that lifts the hood in case of an accident. The XK(R) have it. See here: http://www.worldcarfans.com/2060501....r-popping-hood
