V12-Biturbo
Great find! & the wide fenders/wheel/overall design are deff growing on me, I'd say Home run, exept for the current 600/65 engine w/ECU are still more powerfull the 500+ weght loss is good, but loosing the convertible function kills a lot of appeal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weight savings also turned the car into a coupe. Instead of a heavy folding hardtop, the Black Series gets a fixed roof
It starts with a 6.0-liter twin turbo V12 engine. In the standard SL65 AMG it pumps out a healthy 604 horsepower, but in the Black Series the same engine gets cranked up to 670 hp. The torque peak won't increase, but given that it already sits at 738 pound-feet, there's really isn't a need for more. The five-speed automatic transmission, torque converter and all, will remain.

still hats off to AMG for making this latest incarnation.. Anybody else notice vented hoodHOLLY sweetness!!!

I dont mean to offend anyone in hear, but I have never been a fan of the SL as a sportscar, I have always seen it as a roadster, no matter what engine they dropped in it. But this is gorgeous. It is one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time.

20+ to list......
Great find, I was about to browse those sites for news on Mercedes. Hmmm.... looks like I should get myself another white car or maybe I should wait to see what other colors are offered.

Nice but the hardtop convert is the main reason for me to drive an SL. If I were looking for a coupe a 1000 mile SLR will probably be similar in price when this car comes out and it won't take the giant depreciation hit this will.

Update
UPDATE from eMercedesBenz: Autocar.co.uk has also published an article detailing the SL65 AMG Black Series, with specific measurements of the model given. According to Autocar, front and rear axles have been increased to 1639mm and 1666mm, respectively; and the car itself is 4589mm long, 1960mm wide and 1286mm tall. For the sake of comparison, that's 57mm longer, 133mm wider and 12mm lower than a standard SL.

Stunning, better looking than about any Ferrari I have ever seen!!!
Glenn
*** And you call that Ferrari fast as the driver in the SL 65 embarasses the car costing 3 times as much!! Kudos to Mercedes for a job well done!!!

Need those damn cf seats though. How much weight is the car going to gain by adding the us spec seats. I talked to my dealer and I can put my name down on one but I wonder if they will tank like the current sl 65 is? There are a bunch of clk 63 bs at dealers all over as well selling under sticker. Maybe the thing to do is wait and hope this does the same. Would be nice to get one under 200k but if it drops like the old one you still lose 100k!

SL/M6
Oh that this is SICK...but will probably be too much dough. Id probably rather take a Murcielago...but still one of the hottest SL's ever.
They always say like 300 will be built though... In this case it might be for real.

They said the same about the CLK63 BS, but they've dropped in value quite a bit. But honostly, I like that these cars lose value very quickly because it allows us to own one very cheaply. I mean if I wait a year or two (15k to 20k miles), I'm sure this car will drop $100k or even more That's when we can go in and make a killing on one of them

CLK63 AMG BS, Ferrari CS, GL450, R500, 1985 Porsche dp 935 Cab
I am on the list for the SL BS. The performance numbers of the car are impressive. Just not sure it will be worth almost twice the price, especially considering depreciation. Will probably trade up to the SL,though.
