price for 2005 SL55AMG

Hi everyone
i'm new here and i currently have a ML500 but thinking about getting a 2005 SL55 AMG.
I saw one in the dealership, it's white, fully loaded except keyless go. 14K miles in a great condition. they asked for $84K Out the Door price.
is this too much?
what is a current price for this car in a same condition?
btw, I'm living in LA.

Thank you!!!!

Way too much. I paid $86K for mine with 22k Miles. But that was 2 Years ago.

Shop around. That price is at least $10K too high.

Is it CPO Starmarked ?

I don't think so...they didn't mention about.
sigh...can't find any better ones...
I've checked ebay, they have a better pricing, but i need loan...

btw, they extended the warranty to 100K miles.

Ok That sounds a little better. That 100K miles is what we call CPO.
Or Certified Pre Owned Warranty. Thats worth an extra $ 5000.00.

Bummer on the loan part.
I Just hate those big payments with interest expense.
Ouch.

Go on Autotrader.com. I just looked there. A few in the $ 60K area.
Try haggling with that dealer and show him some comps.
Your doing right with getting an 05 or later. The warranty is a big plus.
But that price needs to come down to make it a good deal.
Never take a dealers first offer. He has room if he wants to move the car.
Plus he is making $$$ on your loan big time.

See if you can get the vehicle repair history report from the dealer too.
It will show what the car has had done as far as repairs.

Patience with a purchase like this will save you big $$$.
Enjoy the process and take your time. Drive a bunch of SL55`s
and enjoy.

Just keep going at it with him. Tell him about how you are not in a rush and
are looking forward to looking and driving some private party cars this weekend. Take all the stress he is trying to give you and give it back to him.

When I bought my car I first looked at it in February of 07.
They wanted $99 K. They sent it to another dealer and it came back.
Because I waited to June to buy it I saved $ 13,000.00.

I test drove mine like 5 times. I took friends and girlfriends.
Finally one day they called and said they
were sick of me and to come pick up the car. I paid a couple thousand
above my original offer of $ 84K. I did pay cash though.

Not many people like you in the market for an SL55 these days.
They know your interested. So make them work harder and lower that price.

I know how nice it is to get one. But be patient and make that dealer suffer.
Dont wuss out on us. Make him PAY for the deal.

Give it a week and watch him melt. At that price the car is not going anywhere fast. And here in So Cal we got lots of them to shop.

Car Whore
YES!!!! I guarantee he has room to go lower!!!
He is playing you. Do not worry about losing the car, trust me it wont be sold.

Call him back and offer $75k out the door, if he says no... tell him thats the price where you walk in and buy it immediately. Tell him to think about it and talk to his manager and call you back if they want to sell the car.
They'll either call you back a few days later and do it, or come back with another offer. If the latter, I would reiterate the $75k OTD figure and tell them to call me back. They would probably then call back again with a lower figure than the first calls figure, and then I would tell them you'd think about it and wait a few more days.

Should take about 1 week of negotiations and you'll end up with a nice discount from your $84K OTD.

Listen to the good advice here from the previous posts. Seriously, challenge yourself and don't fold in to the dealer. Heck, it's YOUR money after all you know... AMGs are selling slow now, don't rush. If it sells to someone else at that price then you should feel good since you weren't "had". You have to get close to 10k lower than their so-called bottom line price. Don't be afraid to walk away... you won't lose anything if you did - especially your pride and composure. Good luck!

Seriously, take your time, no one is going to by that car for that price when the new body is out. I mean I would, but I like to waste money Regardless, the dealer will give you a great deal if you are patient, thats the best way to go. Good luck

2003 S55 AMG silver
+1

Shop around, high end MB's have taken a huge hit in this market, and if you keep looking, you will find a better deal.

You will feel foolish if you pay that kind of money for it, specially at the price that they are going for at auction.
