Currently the RENNtech rear mufflers for the SL55 are $1790, installation time is about 4 hours @$95 per hour. They need at least two weeks notice so that they can make sure the mufflers are in stock.

They also have an ECU modification and a larger crankshaft pulley that add 40 HP and 45 ft-lbs of torque $4995 plus about 4 hours labor.

well,
with 2/5 of the money, and no hours labor, I can get 32 hp and 31 ft-lbs of torque.

I can't get over $5,000 for the pulley and chip, let alone the labour or exhaust costs.

$50 for a pulley and at most $500 for a reprogrammed and dynoed chip.

I used to think that the USA had things good (cheap prices and all) but you guys get ripped off on everything to do with cars nowadays. Wheels , tyres, turbos the works.

That statement becomes true with German cars in the US.
I used to have an Impala SS (american car) and I was going to have a performance shop re-do my engine, stroke it and bore it out from a 350 to 381, use titanium valves and good parts, increase HP from 330 hp to about 500 hp, all of that for $ 6,000 ! ! ! That is pretty cheap.

No.. they are RENNTech... lol.. Benz/Jaguar dealers charge $85 an hour.

You have to also remember that the people working at RENNTech know a bit more about tuing than a dealership mechanic.

The same company also clams a 42 HP gain for the C230K sport coupe, I know you can't get that from a coupe with chip tuneing. I have driven a Renntech SL 55 with the chip and pulley and exhaust it's awesome. I thought I would have to go to a plastic surgeon to get the smile removed from my face. But that would cost more than 4995.00 I'm glad it resolved on it's own.
