what I made for SL55(TV/PHONE/ETC)

First of all , Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

I got my car at early August ( still waiting for formal registration
). After some months of driving it, I became very
unsatisfied with some facts;

1. Though I could see TV(NTSC), the installed MB NAV can not be
used here.
2. COMAND monitor is small and its sreen becomes off while
driving.

So I decided to buy a TV sunvisor , but at the market I could
find only 5" screen and it needs additional wiring .

That is why I started to make my own TV sunvisor. (Together
with this, I have been looking for a way to remove COMAND
screen-off function. I ordered a special hardware for it two
months ago , but still I did not receive it. )

You know MB sunvisor has electric contacts that can be used
to supply DC 12 volt power to something in sunvisor with short
cut of sunvisor mirror lamp.

First time I installed 7 " TV thinking sending TV signal with
wireless UHF TV transmitter at the trunk. The transmitter
can be connected any a/v equipment such as TV tuner, DVD,
and/or NAV. But when I finished it, I did not like the thickness.
Sunvior's thickness is 17-21 mm , and any 7" TV or LCD a/v module available at the market has almost 30 mm thickness.
Moreover I became to want more additional functions like followings.

1. CDMA phone with internet function( no CDMA phone
can be attached to MB car yet)
2. Voice order activation of CDMA phone.
3. Record function of phone talking (This one is not available
at any car yet as I understand).
4. Hands free phone function
4. 2.4 Ghz wiress audio/video function ( not UHF )
5. Two air circulation fans to remove the heat.
6. 2 watts x 2 watts stereo mini amp
7. Remote control at steering wheel.(Independent from original
wheel buttons).

To have a fun to make it , I bought the followings at
Korea, Taiwan, China, and Japan.

7 " LCD module(no a/v board).
slim video-only board for the above module.
2.4 Ghz wiress a/v transmitter and receiver.
micro size circulation fans .
2 watts x 2 watts stereo mini amp kit .
Wireless Handsfree with recording function.
Pioneer audio remote control for steering wheel attachment(
only its case and buttons are used).
putty/leather/ LEDs/ volumes/ etc

And I spent almost every evening of 40 days (I am only a
hobbist.)

Now you can see what I made.

New one

This is what I made again.

2.4 Ghz wiress 7" monitor screen /color CDMA internet mobile phone with voice activation/ wiress handsfree with 60 seconds
recording / remote control at steering wheel (it can remote
control phone speaker and mic volumes, instant record and play, and privacy function)/ 2+2 watts mono wired amp for audio signal
and phone and their manual volume controls/ frequency selector of 2.4 GHz / leather cover/

At the back view , there are air input micro fan , air output micro fan , screen quality control volumes (hidden but opened),
audio speaker , and phone signal speaker(hidden).

remote control

Original remote control of hands free was not for steering
wheel attachment.
Black one is Pioneer car audio remote control which
I modified for my sunvisor toy. It is for wheel attachment.
The job was a kind of trans-planting and difficult.

WOW Amazing job! very ingenius.

Say, has anybody here have any experience with the Escort SRX?
here is the link passport SRX

I like the idea of an installed remote radar....much less obvious,
I have the V1...but hate it when people see it and start following...used to happen all the time in the CLK55 until I hit a nice straight and would break away!
looks to be the best of such a system...what do you think???

That's exactly why I am looking to buy a cordless radar detector.
The Escort Solo Cordless (the same manufacturer of the Passport 8500).

This Escort radar looks interesting. Anybody know if it works in the UK? Couldnt see anything on their site. Presumably if its cordless its easier to install as well as being less obtrusive - excuse my ignorance!

Do not waste your money on Solo, I have both it and 8500,the difference in performance is like CL500 vs CL55.
My 8500 is hardwired by my dealer, they did it free before I even picked up the car.
