Received delivery of SL63

Car was ordered in July & delivered at the end of Oct. Build date sticker indicates a mfg date also in Oct.

The car doesn't have the torque of the 55 but certainly is the most well balanced car I've ever driven.

Too bad it doesn't have a HD radio or back up video. The speed limiter doesn't bother me because we can delete that for much less than what AMG/MBZ wants....$12,000-$15000 more with a slightly different suspension and tires.

Simply a very enjoyable car to drive.

Car Whore
when do you plan to reach the speed limiter enough times to actually make it something to worry about anyways??
i can understand 120,130, and 140 mate, but 155 and above, maybe once in a blue moon.

While I am not advocating for the performance package, though I insisted upon having it, there is way more to it then merely taking away the governor. Here's the full monty of the package...There's also an optional Performance Package includes a limited-slip differential, revised suspension, uprated brakes, lighter 19-inch forged wheels different wheels and of course a new steering wheel. The $14,070 option also raises the cars computer limited top speed from 155 mph to 186 mph.

My car stops like G-D himself rests a hand on the hood. I mean this thing is freaking unbelievable the way it comes to a controlled dead stop without much effort. My wheels are beautiful and light too. Is it worth it...thats for the individual to decide but there is much more to it then delimiting the speedo.

Enjoy your new car and let us know what you think as you begin to explore the edges.

Dean

the torque was one of the major thing that attracted me to my SL55... i cannot imagine buying the all new SL63 but then have to live with lower torque....

You should drive the car first before basing your entire opinion on torque. The new dual clutch tranny and lack of a torque converter hookup really well with this engine.

As the new owner says there is alot of overall balance in this car.

I come from an E55 which was chipped, pulley, airbox, etc so I was somewhat concerned about the torque as well. While I'm sure there is a difference it isn't a difference that I can readily discern. I certainly don't miss the extra torque. I can still light up the rear but the car is so well balanced that I am very very happy that I made the switch.

It all depends where you live. Some locations have more places to stretch your car's legs than others.

But the point of having the car delimited is more about getting the government out of my car! Even though I may not do 200 mph very often, it's the fact that I can.... and not have an electronic nanny saying NO!
