SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: UK - Free spare phones
Not my phone of choice but great to have a free spare which fits the command system.
Given a few months I guess you will not be able to buy them through obsolecense.
PS - You do not have to give your old phone back.
Bought my wife a Nokia 6310i for Christmas (knowing it would fit COMAND nicely) and have had great fun getting my Sony laptop to work via bluetooth. It means you can have a small laptop or PDA in the car (You can pick up e-mails via the phone, too) and pick up e-mails on the go, no wires, no hassle, 28.8 mps connection, or go onto MBworld forums while driving!
You can even use your free minutes towards it.
I guess COMAND II will intergrate this with the screen, rather than having to use a laptop/PDA/WAP phone.
Just back from a quick trip to London and it worked so well on the train. (Collecting new car for my son's totalled Focus).
Picked up e-mails easily and even went to the forum! If I can do this in my SL I will be delighted.
BTW, picked up by my Brother-in-law in his Maserati Cambiacorsa. This is a seriously good car, but the skyhook suspension felt rough & ready. I Hope the ABC is a lot better.
A group test I read which included the Maserati and SL derided the SkyHook and said that ABC completely outclassed it, a much broader, more comprehensive solution.
Best thing about the Maserati appears to be the engine with its Ferrari association but it will be interesting to see how durable the cars are and what that means in terms of re-sale.
Will be good if they do this as it will help the resale value of Ferraris with higher annual milages (above 2k)

Didn't rate the dash etc, although the screen and its operations seemed a paragon of clarity, but the upholstery and ambience was pretty acceptable.
I think the depreciation might be pretty horrific, given its mix of objectives - i.e. a four seater that isn't a Grand Tourer or a convertible.
The ride was harsh, and that would wear me down doing long journeys, so it might do 20K a year, but I wouldn't want too. I'm expecting a totally sublime and a floaty, peaceful experience in the SL, otherwise i'm going for BlueSL for talking me into ABC

When I first test drove an SL500 last summer then got back into the SLK it was like driving on rocks. This is no exaggeration - I just hated long jouneys on English roads in the SLK from that moment on.
That's all reassuring - Drove the SLK from south of France to UK - uncomfortable and not impressed. Part of the reason it went - too small, a bit rough.

You'll enjoy the ride and handling the ABC gives you, I'm sure. If you don't like it, I'll buy you a beer to cry into... My cousin has an SLK bought to celebrate the kids leaving home, and she doesn't like it for long journies either. The SL is in a completely different league.
Morebhp, I thought you were close to the mark with £20k depreciation, at least in the first year! The SL500 and 911 will be a better bet but the Maser is different. Don't like the kitsch clock though...
Took my F355 for its MOT on Saturday, and that's when I realised that I've driven the car just 400 miles in the past year. Gulp. Late New Year's Resolution is to drive it some more, otherwise not worth the insurance, £2.5k belt change coming up, plus of course the car suffers from not being driven, oil seals start going and that's big money to fix.
I blame the SL55 of course..... for being such a great car.

R1 - 600 miles in two years - sold it
Katana 1100 - 200 miles in three years - most of these where going for MOT's and moving house!
XR400 - 600 miles in two years
Late new years resolution - must retire early!
Seen a friend over the weekend - both he and his father have SL55's and apparently another colleague of ours was travelling to London over the weekend to buy a Jasper Blue SL55 for £102k - and he is a motor trader

Good news prices are holding well.
