yes, as you can read in the linked description text, it is black alcantara leather.
The designo-interieur is made of:
- black umbra maple wold
- black nappa leather
- alcantara roof
Normally, everything looks quite a bit darker than on the picture. Must be the flashlight.

I ordered one of these when I was at AMG last week. They will do it in two tone leather or for that matter any leather you want. They call it a 'soft touch' wheel. It has a slightly larger rim than standard with a layer of rubber or foam under the leather.

At the price of E525 plus tax you get the wheel including the shift buttons but not the airbag and 4 switches (use the original ones and you have a spare wheel).
Ronald is correct in theory but if you went into most U.K. dealers they would look at you like you were from Mars!

I guess this is one of those differences between the US and Europe...
The steering wheel is not available at US dealers; they only know about the leather-wood steering wheel for the SL500 and nothing else.

Your dealer has to call the AMG Manufaktur.
Same here in Germany.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the alcantara is not going to last long around where your thumbs go, especially when you've just been to McDonalds and pigged out on their barbecue sauce...

And if I should see any marks on the alcantara within two years, an exchange is covered by the warranty.
I've been driving 8.000 km with this steering wheel so far and don't even see the tiniest marks. But I don't drive around rubbing the alcantara parts of my steering wheel (I've got a female co-driver for that )

AMG Announces New Sauce
I recently received a catalogue from AMG.
On page 1232 of the appendix titled "More Stuff We Thought Of When We Ran Out of Ideas for the M Class" they have the following options...
Part # 12312*3434
Ve are doin ze speshal sorce for ze McDonaldz down ze road.
It vill av spechal viscocity meenin zat it vill not stick to ze alcantara of ze safety ka veel.
£POA.
I'd recommend anyone getting this steering wheel to purchase this special AMG sauce as part of any further upgrading.

Hi
I have just (yesterday) fitted this to my SL55 - initially AMG sent me an all leather one (grey), so they re-sent the leather/alcantara one.
I ordered a grey airbag aswell - which was more expensive than the wheel :-)
They will do the leather in any colour, and the alcantara in grey (matches the roof lining in my car) or black. Im probably going to get my pod and gear knob remade in leather and leather/alcantara in order to get rid of all the black alcantara that I dont like in my car
Mine was ordered straight from AMG, happy to send people my contact's email address if you want.
I'll take some photos at some point and post them
Cheers

BTW, I have a spare - all grey leather - SL55 steering wheel if anyone wants to make me an offer. (Can be put on most MB's but the paddles will do nothing according to my dealer)
Was on my car for 3 weeks (and therefore about 200 miles) before I switched to the grey leather/alcantara mixed wheel.
Cheers

at least in germany you are not allowed to put the original steering wheel of the SL 55 in any other car (due to the lack of airbag testing).
I sold mine on ebay and don't even want to know in what car it is know.
