Veloce Performance Loses a Team Member...
Last June we had one of our Newfies, who was a great help around the office, die. She was 12 1/2.
We just lost her brother, Smooch. He was 15 years old. A great friend and a great help. He will be sorely missed....
This picture was taken during one of his favorite tasks.... life guarding at the beach. Here's to best friends!

Smooch and I had gone through a search and rescue training course a while back. I didn't think that he would jump out of a helicopter into a lake, but he went right after me, and did his job. He was very special.

Dino: It's never a pleasant day when you lose a most faithful friend. We realize when our friends get to be this age that some day we will have to face a lost love. BE it a Great Dane, or a Heinz 57, to a Yorkie ,you develop that special bond. I am sure that special bond ran deep between you and Smooch the Newfie and his sister. I am sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your thoughts. It seems that most everyone has a story of a lost canine friend. I have a couple of human friends who say that they won't get another dog because of the pain from losing their dog, which I can't quite understand. As bad as it hurts now, it can't outdo all the good times and fun, as well as help that they give us. We still have 3 little dogs in our home, but for me there always has to be a big 'ol Newfie around.

They never have a bad day and take it out on you, they never ask for anything more than food, water and some attention, they never seek revenge and forgive you if you lose your temper every single time.
Just will never understand why they were not made to live as long as us. It's just about the only negative the things have.
