WOW ECU reset!
I was reading a thread on here about cars feeling a little sluggish and that resetting the ECU would help. Well I did the ECU reset protocol yesterday and wow it awoke the beast! I drive my car in trafffic regularly so I guess it got trained into slow poke mode. It feels like a different car, crisp throttle response, revs faster, etc. I'm just amazed. This forum is a wealth of great knowledge. Thanks Guys.
Here is the sequence just in case anyone is interested.
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
Enjoy!!!!

I will try this out. Do you have a close-up on those rims? I would like to see one.
BTW- What a coincidence, you drive a SL55, and have 55 posts on here! LOL.

What you are resetting with this procedure, is actually the throttle bodies. This tends to help responsiveness.
Rock on!

What do you mean by the starter position? Do you mean the car will start? Or do you mean the second click is the starter position and the third is the car actually starting.

The position just before you start the car ( the position the key is in when the car is running, that may be a better explanation) Hope that helps.

Position 0 is the "off" position, position 1 is the "acc" position for accessories, position 2 is the "on" position, when the car is in use, and position 3 is the "start" position, used when starting the car.

this is perfectly safe to do. it will not hurt anything. after about 250-300 shifts, your car learns your driving style and tends to shift and provide power the way that is most comparable to your driving style. this simply resets this and results in more raw shifts and better throttle response. i do this all the time on my car as to many many members here with modded cars.
nothing shows up on the dash. at all.
EDIT: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...set-works.html
you will notice a difference. you can wait longer too. it works fine for me after 2 minutes. i used to wait 30 minutes until i found out 2 minutes works just fine.

Jturkel,
Your method differs from all the others I have seen on this board including Speed Doc's on post #1 above.

Thanks a bunch, I am going to give it a try. I had thought that because I generally drive like a madman or lets say "spirited" that it might not do much, but nothing to lose only to gain.

i dont even wait the 2 minutes after wards. i turn it off, pull the key out, then put it back in and its done.
