Just picked mine up

Just picked up my SL55. Black exterior. Berry interior. All the goodies except for Panoramic Roof. I wonder if anyone gets that particular option.

The keyless go is very cool. The distronic is all right.

The 500 HP? Watch out vestal virgins, because I'm going to be pillaging in my new steed.

And the sound. Is that the most incredible sound from an exhaust. I just rev the engine, and every head turns for a block.

I owned a Z8. I'm sorry, but the Z8 just pales in comparison. (Although the Z8 is still one wonderful car.) This car is simply the wildest I've ever driven. OK the CL600 does put you back in your seat a bit more. But that's a coupe.

I LOVE THIS CAR.

CL vs SL

What do you think of the SL interior. I just sat in one the other day and in comparison to the CL, it was a lot smaller inside than I thought it would be. Also, seating position seems much lower than the CL.

Marlin,

What happened to the GT2 and the 7? Looks like CADD has struck again?

Answers to questions

Pictures. I couldn't take any last weekend because it was raining. Yes, I know all of you who live out of the state of California are shocked that it's not sunny and 80 every day, but it was cold and rainy. This weekend promises to be nice. Pictures by Sunday on my website. I hope.

My CL and SL (and frankly my CLK) serves different purposes. The CLK is my everyday driver. Fuel efficient. Very fun. Nice looking. and I'm awaiting the CLK 55 cab next year. Yum. The CL is when I need to carry people, or fancy nights when my date is in a formal. The CL is my SUV. The SL has one purpose in life. To have fun. Maybe to show-off a bit. And to just have fun. Oh, fun.

So, the CL and SL have different interiors with respect to room. I find the SL is more functional for driving. The CL is just a nice luxury coupe.

I traded the 996tt in on the CL. I needed a bigger car, and the CL functioned in that manner. The CLK replaced the 7. I loved the BMW 7 series, but the electronics were just weird. The Mercedes is a bit more refined.

I'm actually bored with the BMW line. I used to think that the Merc products were dull, but I think AMG has taken over from M in terms of speed and the such. However, the CL is going to be traded on a 6 series coupe coming from BMW. I just have to do it. But I think from a design standpoint, Merc has the lead. The AMG cars have the driver's feel of a BMW.

I got rid of the Porsche for one reason. It couldn't get down my driveway. LOL. My house is below street level, and there is a rather steep driveway down to my garage. To prevent flooding, there's a flood barrier at the top of driveway, and getting in or out was damaging the bottom of the car. Dumbest reason for getting out of a car, but I am not legally allowed to park my car on the street, especially since it is only one car width wide.

That's my story, and I'm sticking by it. For now.

Oh yes, the Distronic. I don't live in the LA area, so I'm not in traffic all that much. I use cruise control only when I'm afraid of tickets. For example, the 101 between SB and Ventura used to be my personal racetrack. For the past 4 weeks every morning and evening, CHP planes are patrolling. I'm driving slower with cruise control on.
