Anyone have experience with a bad overhead control panel interior sensor?
I have a fault that goes back to N70B1/N70M1. Do you have to replace the entire roof mounted operating unit (165 item 10) or can it be repaired at the component level? (think it's about $570.00)
I see the end item has been revised up to the forth part number so there must be an issue with it.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a N70B1 code on my '15 E350.

No such code exists in Mercedes' documentation, but I presume it may relate to the in-car temperature. If so, a search on "thermistor" may lead you to a post where someone has inexpensively repaired this sensor.Originally Posted by leardriver

Looking at a parts diagram, N70B1 is the overhead console in it's entirety, My scanner lists it as the code, when in actuality it is the code region or category. There is only one temp sensor there, and it is the one that has been a little fragile. There is one on ebay cheap enough, but I don't have any confidence that it isn't broken also.

these are not US cars with simple electronics inside (compared with GM)
many of them look the same but have different hardware and programs inside
so post your VIN and request, then you'll get a accurate doc from me

You'll simply have to weigh the cost/risk of a used eBay unit against the cost of a new one or spend $10 on a thermistor. You could also consult a Magic 8 Ball.Originally Posted by leardriver

The thermistor I mentioned is here: https://www.digikey.com/product-deta...546-ND/5277241. One example of a documented fix in a W209 using that part is here: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/ov...ensor.2567858/.
The thermistor above has a resistance of 10K ohms at 25 degrees Celsius. It's possible the one in a 2015 E350 has a different specification, and to allow for that possibility I'd get the part number off of the existing thermistor prior to ordering a new one.
I'd also measure the resistance of the existing one to verify that it is indeed the problem.
