37. My buddies told me the SL55 is an old mans car, but I love this thing. Already had the 911 turbo and much prefer the AMG.

I have no issue with kids and nice cars bought with inheritance/trust money, so long as they drive responsibly... About a year ago bought my eldest a new Mini JCW as it's safe and fun and the stick and handling capabilities are to try and turn her into a true gearhead.

To answer the thread question, 39. I love the look of the SL and would've loved an SL65 but got the S as I'm 6'4" 240 so just can't get the seat quite right...plus there's the "problem" of my kiddos...

No Inheritance or Trust money here just hard work that paid off. Almost all of my friends parents buy their kids cars but they end up being old unsafe or unreliable cars.

29 years old. Bought SL600 at 27, owned till Spring '09. Before that, owned '05 S600. Both of these cars I owned without being able to afford, simply felt the pressure of owning as I had a 'good' corporate job and my friends had nice cars. In retrospect, really dumb.

Currently own no car to speak of, as I work from home (day trade futures) and live in an urban setting. Am for the first time able to afford cars previously owned, but holding on to build some real wealth instead, and not waste on irrelevant assets. Last economic depression was an eye-opener for me, watching my employer (and basis of my financial dreams) go down the tubes in a matter of months.

Since you are in Fountain Hills, I am surprised that you haven't been to one of our monthly Cars & Coffee events.

The first Saturday of every month, at the SE corner of Scottsdale Rd and Double tree, we usually have 100-150 exotics, classics, and everything in between. Even a few AMGs show up. We get together from 8:30am on.

btw....... I'm 52

40 here.
I went from a C55 to a SL55, but AMG all the way.
The SL55 was a big step up for me, although I wish I could have gotten a SL65.

We should stop by some time , my dad belongs to SECC but never shows up to any events because its all ways just a meet at the car wash by West World. He also belongs to the Ferrari club but its just the same thing they just meet up for Coffee. He would rather go to a Autocross or DE event like the Porsche club used to to.
