SL63 exhaust

I was at a tuners yesterday, they had just fitted a supercharger to a R8, with an exhaust system. When it started I was amazed, it sounded like
thunder, a very loud deep gurgle, magnificent. When I got back in my 63 it sounded tame.

So I have seen many members talking about taking resonators off, but I'm sure I have not seen one for the SL63, never thought I would need it.
So anybody done a 63, a vid with sound would be good, or just what you did.
At a count of about 5 SL63 owners on the Forum I think my chances are very slim.

i am one of the 5! we are an exclusive club indeed!
this means the resale value is going to be great! (don't hold your breath)
the exhaust sound on the sl63 is awesome. i find it impressive that someone would be willing to tinker with it. if it can be improved, count me in for a mod!

The inside is loud at higher rpms . I didn't feel any gain.

Sorry for sounding stupid but did a garage take out the resonators and make the pipes or did you buy pipes to replace them. If you bought pipes where can
I get them from.

well , a garage took out the resonators and the secondary cats , and made the pipes for me.

OK thanks, I have found on Google some bespoke exhaust people.
So as not to take of the wrong thing, counting boxes from the front, which are the resonators, I'm going to do them first.

do you have drone in car? Im hesitating about the just resonator remove,cause urs is bit too loud without the second cats ..but great sound.

subscribing to the thread, and sorry i am one of those who really like the factory setup. met a fellow SL63 in HK with resonator delete and he sounded really too agressive.

I am waiting on any facts on the droaning issue as well. I am up for an aggressive sound, but cant tolerate droaning.

SLS, S63, SL63, GL550, S550. Priors: SL55, S500, S550 "other" brands...F430, 612 Scag, 599 GTB,etc

Owner here also, but am pretty happy with stock setup. Have considered the long tube headers but have passed so far since it puts warranty in question for future repairs, etc.

Im going to go do it today, at worst I'll be out $500 (take off and to reinstall if I hate it). I'll get a video clip of inside and outside pre and post removal. I will be taking PAYPAL donations for those who want to get the video.....LOL.

Ok, did it.. Videos as soon as I can figure out how to get it off my phone and on youtube. Here the general so far. NO DRONE..Where before it would purr, now it GROWLS.. Imagine a American V8 muscle car. Its got that kind of grunt and gurrgle (reminds me of a viper).

Personally I am on the fence about it, I mean really if I wanted a Viper I would have bought a viper. It has kind of lost its refinement. I was next to a Porsche C4S and I gunned it, woke him up and he gave chase, so it has more sports cache, but is that what I bought THIS car for?
