Set a personal best at the track today: 11.40@120

For those that don't venture into the E55 forum, my old personal best was 11.55@120, which is considered a pretty damn good time for a stock SL600 with just a Eurocharged shelf tune. Well, since then, I've added 20" wheels and deleted the mufflers. Here's what she did today...

1. 11.400@120.63 w/ 1.707
2. 11.434@120.57 w/1.776
3. 11.466@120.54 w/1.778
4. 11.482@120.38 w/1.730 (and a .073 R/T, thank you very much. )
5. 11.492@120.38 w/1.738
6. 11.500@119.90 w/1.789
7. 11.502@120.17 w/1.771
8. 11.537@120.16 w/1.797
9. 11.553@119.81 w/1.800
10.11.591@120.13 w/1.752

And here's the splits for run #1

60' 1.707
330' 4.788
1/8 7.349@96.30
1000 9.544
1/4 11.400@120.63

Rear tires are 305/25/20 Contisport 3s.

Signature updated.

Very impressive... (You gotta get the Speedriven TCU, holy***** I installed it today difference is like Night/Day ALL TQ limiters lifted, single BEST mod besides ECU you'll ever do to that 600 period) I'm going to Sacramento very SOON

I can't believe you ran those splits & a friggin FLAT 11.40 on those boat anchor 20"s WTF??? You're 2 tenths away from beating Joe Curry's record in SL600

PS.. Now tell me you didn't Ice dwn the Intercoolers or use some 93-100 octane?

Thanks Omar, signature and dragtimes.com were the first two things I thought about.

I'm gonna need a 1.5x or real low 1.6x 60' to sniff Joe's record. I just don't have the horsepower right now, as shown by my trap. My Eurocharged tune is still very safe/fat. I data logged one of my runs, and there is still more there, if I want it. I asked them to give me a slightly detuned version of their shelf tune, until I had supporting cooling mods, all in the name of safety. They did just that.

I did ice down, but the 11.40 run was a hot lap. My very first run of the day, was an 11.43, my second was an 11.46. The times got a tick slower after that as it started to warm up. I hot lapped the crap out of the car, and the performance only dropped off after about the 3rd or 4th lap in a row. IATs were about 135-137 at it hottest point in the run.

No race gas. It had an 1/8 tank of Citgo 93 pump. And I even ran 40lbs in the rear on those 305/25's.

Ricker - BOR is an excellent driver, he rolls up with pump gas and street tires and just turns n burns...never talking smack or anything like that...just killin' it quietly and respectfully in a tactful manner.

Your worst nightmare...
You are becoming a master at this, nothing like practice makes best. Imagine if you slap on drag radials. I see easy a sub 1.6 for you.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I've been very fortunate, in that I literally grew up at race tracks. I've been racing various cars and bikes since I was 15, which was many, many moons ago. As some of you know, my father was....how we say...in the bidness, so that afforded me the opportunity to hone my skills at a very young age. It wasn't uncommon to see a 13 year old Clayton behind the wheel of a 12-second 4 speed. I've made probably 500 passes or so, in various equipment. Most of it was at a younger age.

Even still, launching this V12TT can be quite tricky. I still ask questions to learn various launch techniques for these dune buggies. JAYCL600 and Ahmad have smartened me up a little bit on these monsters, that's for sure. I'm more proud of the 1.70 60' on 20" Contis, than I am the ET.

I'm also blessed with having MIR as my home track. Good luck trying to find a better prepped track in the country. The track is making me look better than I probably am.

But, if you put me in a track that has actual turns, I'd might as well be driving with my feet.
