Dyno'ed the SL55 today

I got my SL55 Saturday morning... man, that was a great feeling.

My first impression was... "I though this thing would be faster" Other than that, Its a super nice car, I like it alot.

Today I hit the dyno.. I guess I was expecting more power

I made 385whp and 450wtq.. Thats 100whp and 130wtq less than my lighter C55... Maybe that why Im so jaded about these numbers.

Thats like a 30% or something driveline loss???? whats up with that?? IC pump is fine, everything looked to be in good working order.

Im going in for a software update from the dealer, Maybe that will help some. My brothers CLS55 made 420whp and 450wtq Stock. All he had was the latest MBZ software. We will see what happens

As of right not I got a whopping 385whp.

Lets let the modding begin

weak. i'd give you a solid whippin' right now in the C.

how dirty are the intake filters? you sure the i/c pump is fine? was it heat soaked while putting those numbers down...did you see it pulling timing anywhere while on the dyno? those do seem like low dyno numbers.

Get a scanguageII so you can see your IAT Temps before your runs.

Make sure your Intake Temps are below 120 at the start of the run.

You didn't say if it was a dynojet or Mustang dyno....

Your brothers car is strong. You should see anywhere from 405-415 for a normal 55 engine.

Those numbers may not be so bad depending on the dyno you're using. On a dynojet, 99% of 55k dyno between 395 and 415 whp.... on a dyno dynamics (assuming no corrections being applied), I would expect the numbers to be less I don't know what's up with the CLS55, sounds like a super freak engine If it dynoed 420 whp on an already low-reading dyno dynamics, I would expect it to dyno at 450 to 460 whp on a regular dynojet Has he taken it to the track yet?

Your hp is low. Most of the stock 55s we've tuned start out at 410-425.

No its just a very low reading dyno. On the exact same dyno my car put down 440hp with a stage 1 RENNtech with Heat exchanger and pump....

Good News

After the first dyno run, It left me scratching my head.. Some times a light bulb goes off in my noggin. So I made sure to run this car down to just about empty. I filled up with some pump 91oct... and bingo! within about 15 min of driving yesterday the car felt better. I worked out of Dyno-Comp all day today. At the end of the day I tossed my car back on the dyno. I on the 3 pulls i did. that car made a consistent 412whp. Chalk one up for old/bad gas.

The dealer I bought the car from sent it to me with a full tank of gas. I should have known better. A 2005 with only 25k on it. Might have done some sitting around before I bought it. My guess is the dealer or someone topped the car of with some 87oct or something. Thus killing the power of this car.

All is now well in hooleyville power wise.

However, I had to track down a leak that was found by the rear drivers side tire. Turned out to be the ABC reservoir seal. It was tracking all the way back to the rear of the car.

Hello-
Little off topic, but thought I'd try you here... We have your old C55 at our shop and are slowly peicing it together. Just wondering if you can give us a heads up on any info or parts you might have around. Namely looking for the ECU. Our customer would like to purchase the ECU if you've got it by chance or know where it might be. Subframe is on the way now along with oil pan and much of the front end. Would really appreciate if you can let us know any lines on the ECU. Thanks and enjoy the new SL!
