FINALLY! TUNE MB V8/V12 WITHOUT REMOVING THE ECU! CHEAP! YOU OWN HARDWARE+SOFTWARE!
SubscribeThis is the micro computer age and I have no idea why it took so long but someone finally did it!!! This seems like the perfect solution for Tuning the MB ECU.
Up until now you had to remove your ECU and mail it cross-country to be re-flashed and then have it mailed back usually taking 3-5 days without being able to drive your car. There was also always the risk of your $2,800 ECU being lost in shipping..
NOT ANY MORE!!!
AMP performance is working with a tuning GENIUS who has recently invented and introduced a mini programer (the size of a matchbox) that plugs directly into the cars OBD port and FLASHES/TUNES the ECU in your MERCEDES. Plug it in wait for the light to turn from red to green and your car is Tuned in just 3 minutes!
These do exactly what ALL the other Tuners do but in a micro package!... All the Tuners do the same thing which is to read your cars ECU file Modify that file and then re-flash your ECU with their Modified file.
These guys actually SELL you the programer with a high performance tune installed via the NET that is specifically designed for your own car (using your cars ID number) and the programer and modified file is yours forever! This amazing mini programer also has a switch to return your ECU back to the stock factory file (Tune) also in just 3 minutes.
This Tune is Moderately Aggressive and other Tunes are probably more aggressive but for the cost and ease of installation it seemed perfect to me! They can do a custom MONSTER Tune if requested...
Compared to what the other Tuners charge this Tune was about one third to one half the cost at only $1,190 (V8 MBs).
Most Tuners charge $1,750-$4,500 or more for a one time flash of your ECU. Then if the MB dealer during a service re-flashes your ECU back to stock you have to remove the ECU and send it back (often with additional charges) plus your car is down again for 3-5 more days!
If you are interested I dealt with a great guy RYAN at (818)344-5454... They also can do the tune for the V12 MBs with the mini programer..

I sure am! Converted to the MB world for a while - will have pics up on SF and here early next week.
Pembroke Pines area - I used to live in Miami. May have seen you around when I had my supra in S FL.
I posted in this thread about advertising without being a forum sponsor, lack of dyno charts, skepticism over the general tune, and asking for more info - but I guess the OP decided it needed to be deleted and edited his post as well?

haha I knew it, met you a few years back at one of the dyno meets. I still have my Supra but have STRUGGLED with the keep it or sell it question. Right NOW I'm keepin it! I still talk with Dan (BLKLBL) from time to time. But I bought my DD (04 E55) 3 years ago and have had fun with it! This thread caught my interest and will hold my attention.
Hope to see your NEW ride soon!! keep in touch mangood to see a couple Supra guys on here!!

I wouldn't trust or pay that much for that cheap little plastic device on a 150k MB. I rather have Eurocharged do the tune for less than the price of that. Who is held accountable for a blown engine on that little thing?

Hi Execmalibu
This is indeed a good idear and have been on the market for other tuners (for VW, Audi, BMW etc), and for sure is the future.
Is the box included in the price or unly for loan?
Unly thing to question, is the qualiti of the tune software, that can be good or bad. Which company is behind this tune?
I'm interested in this tune!

Speedriven offers something very similar...if not exactly the same. No more shipping ecu to/from.

Happy to have another familiar face on the board. Please tell Dan I said hello from TX. I miss S FL and the fun there, but career has taken me elsewhere for now. Oh yeah, KEEP the Supra! Which is yours? Any pics to remind me?Originally Posted by reeper6

The idea of the small loading/tuner box is not a new one and is just fine for loading the ECU data from 10k car to 150k MB. That was not the question. Originally Posted by JonMBZ

I was being skeptical of the poster who is from the area where the shop phone number/area code is from, the shop has no website, no one in the MB world has heard of the shop/tuner, etc.

Didn't know that, but I live down the street from Eurocharged when my time to tune comes Originally Posted by Philly Single

Interesting...does it have several options of tunes you can download from the handheld device?
They do this a lot in the diesel truck performance world (and it's huge, much bigger than you might think)...for example for the Cummins engine there is a downloader called 'Smarty' which has 9 settings, or tunes. Each one fuels a certain way and changes the power and tq of the engine upto the max level which is the 9th setting or tune.
Are we talking about the same kind of thing here?

it appears to be the same, and they are always very reasonable for diesels, usually a good tuner for them is in the 300-600 range, and for 1200 you can get a color back up cam/nav/tuner combo. I keep thinking I should buy a diesel at some point, you can take a mostly stock diesel, get exhaust intake and a programmer and cut times in the 12's

I tow my race car with my '01 Cummins Turbo Diesel...I use a smarty tuner, have guages in there, built torque converter and modified valve body, trans lockup controller, FASS fuel system, turbo back 4" MBRP exhaust, AFE intake...I think I might get a set of F1 or DDP injectors and then leave it be. It tows like nothing is behind it...gobs and gobs of tq...it's fast too (turbo is loud and the thing just hauls like a freight train!), surprised me with how well diesels take to a few mods and tune ranges...their performance market if friggin huge, had no idea until I got the truck and started playing around with a few mods, didn't even intend on doing anything to it

nice mods list, didn't expect to see many diesel geeks on here. You should do the injector upgrade, get it a good tune to adjust for them and see if you can't max out the torque capacity at your local dyno shop
