What other cars do you all have?
Curious, but what cars do everyone have in their garages?
- 2003 SL55
- 2001 996 Turbo
- 2000 996 C2
- 2002 BMW 745iL
- 2001 BMW M5
- 1999 Lexus GS300
- 2002 BMW X5
- 2002 MB G500
- 2000 MB S500
- 2000 Ferrari 360
- none are sold, and the garage is overflowing...
- anyone know how to post pics?

Thanks for the comment guys.
As for what I do, well, I much rather keep that a secret. But I am a car nut and that's what we're all here for !
In response to Startcraft33, I am of Asian decent, however the house is a mess since we moved in not too long ago. It will look better in the coming days.

I think I have a problem on the serious side of collecting...
I have just decided to trade in the 996 C2 for a Murcielago and use the GS300 as a down pay (reserve) for a Porsche Carrera GT.
The SL has just went to Brabus for a K8 conversion along with some wheels.
I think I've lost my mind ?!?!?

996tt, E55, X3 and a few others not worthy of mentioning here...
nice inventory, that's like 2 weeks worth of daily drivers there! what did you drive prior to 1999?

You have made some good decisions! The Carrera GT is definatly worth buying, and trading in the C2 for Lambo is also a good choice, becasue I don't see a point of having a 996 Turbo and C2 at the same time.

Canuck,
I was all over the place prior to '99. Had:
- 94 Toyota Supra Turbo
- 97 BMW 750iL
- 97 MB S500
- 96 Chevy Blazer
I think that was it ??? I can't remember if I left anything out.
Strangely enough, I went to the local Porsche dealer and
because I had bought my C2 and Turbo there, they said no
deposit was needed. (I was going to use the GS300 as a down)
All they required was my word and well...I gave it to them. All
I know is that I am receiving it sometime in '04.
As for the Murcielago, I went to go test drive it, but I am not
sure how much I like it. It's somewhat uncomfortable. It's a
bit too low and unnatural to be so close to the ground, at least
for me. Has anyone driven one? So this weekend they invited
me back to drive the 575 Maranello. We'll see after that.

Reminder: felt the same way in the Murc. A couple more drives and it gets to be much more comfortable, etc. I'm still at odds with it aesthetically.
For what it's worth, the first time I got into a Diablo was a 6.0 SE, took it out for 2 hours, and felt right at home. It just doesn't feel as wide and disproportionate as a Murc, despite the reduced visibility.

PS: The maranello is perfect. Ask Doody!

Bobafett,
The Murc is just a bit too small and crampped as well. I am 5'11" and I feel stuffed! Not sure I can do 2 hrs in this thing. This would definitely be a 30 min car. A quick spin around town and go home. The looks can grow on you I suppose, but I don't think you can go wrong with the latest iteration from Santa 'Agusta (did I get that right?).
But I am definitely looking forward to the 575. Heard nothing but praises for that car. However I know it is an F1, but is there an option for the 6-Speed? My 360 is at the local dealer getting a tubi installed...I'll ask when I get there this weekend.
Interesting take on the Diablo 6.0. I'll have to give that a try too! But is the interior space similar to the Murc?

You know, the interior of the Diablo is actually a bit more dated and narrower than the Murc. Im only 5'9, so for me I don't suffer nearly as much.
They do offer the 575 in 6sp, and I was in the same boat once, but I decided that I'd much rather not take the depreciation hit. As such, an extremely low mileage 550 can be had for 50k less, which is nothing to sneeze at. Personally, the 6sp, IMO, is the only way to go.
If you need some help looking for a 550, let me know, as I'm in the search for one myself these days, with the intention of finding 'the right one' within the next 4-6 weeks.

Dan,
There are plenty of 550's used. Matter of fact there are some examples MY'97~'00 with 20K miles for under $100K. Not sure what your budget is, but check out www.symbolicmotors.com
When I was there last time, they had a Grigio Alloy with black (?) for under $100K. I forget the miles though...

Reminder: I know prices are low, but under 100?? There's got to be a story behind that one. Must be a 97 w/o the 30k performed, etc.
More likely than not, I'll try to find a 99/00 with 5-10k miles, but so long as the car is well sorted, and it's Black/black, I'm fine. Still trying to avoid 97 at the very least.
Thanks for the look-out. Elliot Grossman at Symbolic is a good friend.

Dan,
Ferrari's are all about stories...just part of the ownership I suppose. Though I think the 360's are better made than the models before them. My friend Dave had his gear stuck in 4th in his 550 and it had less than 2K miles. Been in the shop for 3 months and finally got repaired.
But in anycase, the market for 550s are a tad soft. Not sure of the conditions of cars I've seen for under $100K or it's service history, but they did have clear titles. Keep your eye on Ebay once in a while.
By the way, is everyone at Symbolic an Aussie?
I'm heading over to the other house for the weekend. I'll take pics of the other collection and will post soon.

hahahaha, amusing abotu Symbolic. Never really realized, but then, I'm up in the Bay Area.
Yes, the market for 550s is soft, but they're pretty solid cars. If the 575 weren't going to take such a hard hit, like the 550 has, a 6sp 575 would be quite sharp (although I do prefer the 550 lights and bumper).
Thanks for the pointer on ebay, but I'm still a little surprised about the sub-100k bit. Even checking now, the best 'bargain' I'm seeing is a police auction 2000 with 4075 miles on it.
More realistically, I'd expect to pay 130-135 for a 2000 with 10k miles.
Either way - take a drive in a Diablo 6.0. While I'm not as tall as you are, I found it quite comfortable. But then, if you find the Murc as a tight fit, it might not work out...
