2003 SL55 AMG
Can't rev higher than 4000RPM
I was driving my SL55 last week when I decided to step on the gas hard. The car jumped and got to about 30 MPH when all of a sudden it lost all power and came almost to a complete stop. I pulled over, turn it off and on, and the car wouldn't rev passed 4000RPM; not in P, N, or D. I called the dealer and they said it needs to be towed in and they have no clue what the problem is, but its in "limp mode" right now and won't know whats wrong until they see it. Any ideas?
Edit: No check engine light on.

Does sound like limp mode (as that's the description from the manual of what to expect in limp home mode). IC piping always a good place to start as loss of vacuum will cause similar symptoms.

I was told by Mercedes mechanic that while stationery the engine will not rev. up more than 4000 revs is to protect the compressor.

Hi M3nv the Dealer said that that the engine is governed to rev only up to 4000 while you are stationery, that is if you press the accelerator while the car is not in gear it will only rev up to 4000, if you drive the car it will rev more than.
