the links tend to cause more problems with sensors, etc. than a good module like the V2 lowering module. Google it and see.

I have not seen any evidence to support this personally.

I'll be doing links from adjustible air ride in the near future myself.

SDS lowering is best...it's within the specifications of the system and lowers each corner respectively so that the wheel arch sits right around an inch above the tire. Plus you get an alignment with it which makes sure the car is spot on...grand total = $90 for lowering and alignment

You can see the result of this treatment on my car in the sig below.

That's the Star Diagnostic computer system shops like Mercedes use to update, adjust, ..., computer-based settings of the car. e.g. suspension height, temperature at which the fan will kick-in , etc...

The problem with adjusting the drop with the Star system, is that it can only go so far (not as low as with the ELM or links), and the dealer can (by mistake I'm sure) reset the height while they work on your car...

If you are in the LA or Orange County area, I'll point you in the right direction.

The SL is in the bay - I fly down to LA for business occasionally - everyone who does anything on cars seems to be down in LA - no one does anything up here - and I'm here trying to help our economy spending money on unnecessary things

I dunno about the bay area....I'm in MD. I would get it done at a dealership so they can align the car properly afterwards...

I guess it is nice though as everyone that sees my car thinks it was waaaaaaaaay more expensive than I actually paid, and then they still don't know about the the v12 under the hood

Hi Tirreno, I am in the Los Angeles area. Can you please share with me where I can utilize the SDS approach to lower my car?

Thanks,
Gary

Hey Gary, call Sam at Auto Talent: 310 877 8715.

Do understand that this method does not give you the crazy dragging look that others (Lowering Links or an ELM) can get you.

Having said that, I think it is still a nice drop compared to stock: At the front you end-up within 1' above the tire. For the rear you get 1'-1.5' above the tire. That's as far as the SDS will take you.

Using Lowering Links or an ELM, you can have the wheels slightly tucked under the frame, or leaving 1/2' above the tire for a smoother ride for example. There are just more options with those...

Let me know when you go there. I'll love to check out your ride and catch up.

Below are some pix of my car lowered with SDS. I since then went even lower with the Lowering Links.

Hey Sunir, how do you find the ride to be with Star lowering and 19s. I'm guessing you have some rough, uneven, potholed roads in Maryland like we do in Indiana.

I'm lowered with links and running 19" wheels and it rides great.

Thanks Gene. Maybe I will have to get serious about a new set of wheels. I love the SL65 19" five spoke. i think they would look great on my car with its pewter metalic paint.

SDS lowering on 19"s in my opinion is the best solution between a lower stance and still haivng a good ride quality over not the smoothest roads. More of this has to do with the sidewall thickness and stiffness of the tires fitted to the 19's...I think you'll like itm especially on factory wheels like the 65's
