Tire Pressure Sensors - Best price, place to order, and correct part number?

I am looking for a new set of TPS sensors and wanted to verify the part number prior to ordering (since I've seen a few different options to order online).

Also, parts.com seems to be asking $143 + Ship for each when they emailed me back. Are there any better deals out there?

I saw from reading the cost was closer to $70-100?

Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Adrock

Adrock, TireRack is your friend. You should replace all 4 unless previous owner have replaced any of them. Labour should be cheap, I paid $100 in San Francisco. I paid $88 per sensor + $8 for stem.
IIRC your car is an '05 and in my case TR made a mistake initially and credit me for the labour, so I'm now a big fan.

In my case it was a BERU sensor 315MHZ, p/n 000 822 34 06 (TireRack P/N S049) with RDV003 valve. If you want to be sure take the tire off and look at the rim.

[they originally sent me VDO/Siemens]

Perfect info sf65! They are hard to find on the Tire Rack website, but I was able to locate them and paid 72.25 each for TPS with valves, shipped! Total of 285.

Here's the link info for anyone else I can help out:
You essentially need to search for a wheel that will fit your model here:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/wtpack.jsp

Then click the link "important TPMS info" for the TPMS prices (only shows with wheel/tire setups, but can be ordered alone.
If this link works - here is to the SL65 Direct:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...and&dtab=TPMS#

I did it over the phone and got the rep to do research using VIN, that would be safer unless you are certain about the p/n

I did it with BERU; it works perfectly. Spent about $450, the dealer wanted $1200. Asked for it by name at TIreRack.

Just ordered a set of aftermarket TPMS for my 2003 SL55

I'll report again after installation to confirm to everybody that they work.

Check out http://www.orotekusa.com to confirm the part number.

I went with part number OBE-004

$184 + $5 shipping for a set of four from ebay seller "newpartsplus" which turns out to be http://www.oewheelsllc.com/ based on matching the phone number on the ebay listings.

I've tried to confirm online that the set of sensors don't need any other accessories for installation as the pic shows the sensors and stems... but to be confirmed when the package actually arrives.

Edit #1 - Got tracking number within 22 minutes of ordering on ebay.. wow.

/\ I ordered these same ones and they do come with everything to install them, and should have already been programmed to your vehicle. I have not installed them yet but should be soon on a spare set of wheels.

Received them, here's a pic of the boxes, contents and the contact card that came in the envelope.

Instructions included shows that it's pretty simple to install them onto the wheel (tire installer wanted $10/wheel to install them).

I won't get a chance to install them right away though.. so I'll post up again later if it works out or not.

$70 per wheel is dirt cheap. From a dealership the modules are $175 each. Make sure you check by VIN before you order.

do you know if these are specific to the R230 or will it work with any MB? I have an ML that needs a set.

By the way, in the model years prior to the federal mandate, you can turn TPMS off in Star. I had that done in my 03 SL55. Its not like I don't feel a few pounds of tire pressure loss anyway. I personally think tire pressure monitors are for idiots, but I guess our government thinks most of us are just that.

They seem to be generic ones that are pre-programmed before they are shipped out. Best to search the ebay name for them or else contact them directly. Likely they'll have it since ML's are more popular than SL's.

I like the sensors.. peace of mind and I do frequently check the pressures on my dash cause when I roll on the crappy highways, sometimes I think there's new tire damage due to the sound/contour of the roads, but the steady tire pressures confirm that its just a crappy road.

I bought the same sensors as you from the same company for my 2003 sl55. Had them installed yesterday, but they are not syncing up to the on board computer. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ben

Are they still not synched? I just drove mine for a while and they were recognized.
