SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Is this a good deal?

'08 FX35 and currently in the market for an SL55 AMG
Is this a good deal?
First and foremost I would like to say that I admire all your cars and all that you've done to them and wish to follow in all your footsteps in the very near future. This is the reason I am starting this thread. I have come across an '03 SL55 AMG (silver with red interior) with 11,00 original miles in pristine condition. The owner to say the least is pretty well off and only uses the car half the year when he is in the states. He no longer has a use for it and wants to sell it. I think he'll sell it to me for $20,000. Just wanted to know if this is a fair price and are there certain things to lookout for. Sorry for such a long posting and I look forward to hearing from all of you. Thank you.

Ok, $20,000??? Are you sure??? Listen, let's just say it this way, if you don't buy the car for $20,000 with 11k original miles (no roll backs) I will fly out to where ever this car is and buy it myself for that amount, even tho I already have one. If the car is what you are saying it is $20,000 is not even a price I would think about, I would buy it before this guy wakes up and sees what the market is bringing in on these cars.
Don't waste your time typing on the forum. RUN and get this CAR ASAP. and if you somehow decide not to buy it I got dibs on it. Tell the owner I will bring CASH as soon as he says yes.
And ohh yea, at this price check if it is not a SL500 with AMG package and changed badges, look under the hood and inside. Check the title if it is not salvage as well.

Yeah I am very sure kamilclk430. The guy lives in Fisher Island here in Miami and is pretty wealthy. From what I've been told (3rd party but reliable) it has a clean title, pristine condition inside and out, and is a true AMG. Unfortunately the owner is out of the U.S. at the current moment but once he returns I will check the car myself. If all is well that car is mine!!! By the way beautiful car you have and I hope some day to have one just like it.

Be very very careful of scams... There are quite a few where the seller travels, never drives the car, its in prestine shape, but oh wait.... we can't meet so send me a deposit via western union...
Anyway, just be careful... Pay for the car in person when you can take receipt of the car.....
If it is a legitimate deal, then most definitely buy the car at this price.

If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.
You say that the seller is "pretty wealthy". Well, he didn't get that way by making dumb business decisions. I say no way he's selling a pristine, 11K mile, SL55 AMG, for 20 grand.

Thanks for all of your input. Once he gets back in town I'll check the car with my brother who is a body technician and his friend, a certified Mercedes mechanic. I've lived by that saying if it's too good it probably is but hopefully not in this case. I'll let you all know the outcome ASAP. Thank you again and Happy Holidays to you and your families!
