Former SL owner looking to get into SL55....is this a good deal?
I have a 2004 with 40k miles.....$36k. Very clean car.....1 owner.....was a trade-in on new car.
Is this a pretty good deal you think?
I have a SL500 from 2006-2008 before I bought an M6 (which I got rid of in December)....I loved my SL. I just got rid of my 750li because I'm just not used to driving a car that big.....and it came down to the SL55 or Jag XK....or another 6 series...like a 650i. However, I can't go from a M6 to a 650i.....and the SL is still a damn beautiful and updated looking car.
Any thoughts on this car I might be buying? Pricing seems good for the miles....and it's only 6k miles per year. I bought my 2003 SL500 with 32k miles on it back in 06 and I only had one issue (which was with roof sensor).

very good deal i think, make sure you get a warranty. I have a 2004 55 and I would not sell mine in stock condition for a penny less than $36k with more miles

The price seems reasonable, depending on the service history. Check that out and get a pre-inspection.
If you go to a delaer or a good indy you might ask how much extra to rodeo (yes, that is what they call it) the car. That is the best way to test the suspension.
Good luck. You will enjoy the car. I was looking hard at the M6 but I really wanted a tin top so I got the SL.

What do you get with the 55 over the non AMG 500 other than the obvious extra HP? Say in the 2003-2005 range? I just sold my '08 Vette and want to switch over to an SL.

Congrats and Good Luck with your new SL!
Make sure you get warranty coverage for it.
I just sold my 2004 SL55 with high mileage. I spent 32K in maintenance and repairs in the last three years on it. However i'm looking to get back in as quickly as possible to another SL55. Something with a little less workload and younger, and this time I will make sure it has coverage.
I'm looking at a 2006 SL55 with 28K miles for 37.5K from a private seller in CA (mint condition), and also the beauty that Kamil has put together.

different suspension, big a$$ brakes to slow the fast horse down and all of the AMG styling cues. You can't under estimate the nearly 200 extra ponies. The 55k motor produces monster torque so that extra power comes on with a visceral kick in the butt. If you are in to mods, the 55k can be turned into a beast or really awoken with just a simple tune and a set of Long tube headers.

Holy ****. That is a screaming deal. What color?
If you pass on it, send the sellers info my way. That sounds like a great deal if the title is clean.

She sold it to a dealer. Its ok, I'll get something else. I was not crazy about the light grey interior anyway. Look on eBay, you'll find something.
