2006 SL 55 Retractable Top Problem
The folding roof on my SL55 goes down just fine. When I try to raise the top, the last step, folding the trunk lid down, it just stops with the trunk lid up. The red light on the top activator goes out.
In other words, the top mechanism appears to be OK, but something is wrong in the switches. Is there a way to recycle or reset everything?
I was able to do a reset on my SL500, but can't find anything on the newer SL. Or is it time to call my friendly mechanic?

This is a common problem on our SLs. I just had a flap replaced under my extended warrantee six months ago.
You might check the flaps when the top stops closing and see if one of them is jammed. When this happened to me, I was able to gently move the flap out of the jamb and then activate the closing switch and it closed the rest of the way.
