Tires

Alright I know I might be beating a dead horse but.....
It is time for me to get tires for my '03 SL55.
It came with the Pirelli's.
A friend of mine recommende the Michelin Pilot sports.
Can anyone tell me if the Pirelli's are $1000 better than the Pilots?

I must've said this a million times :P but unless you track your car, I would highly recommend Hankook Ventus V12's. Best bang for your buck!

Would depend on your tire size. 265/40/18s (my tire size on OEM wheels) ran me about $180 per tire including tax, balance, mount, etc

Huh? I have these & I tracked my car once with them , & they worked great (for a cheap street tire).

well its cause most people that track their car usually have stickier tires on.

I have found that PS 2's work great on the SL55. Since mine is delimited, those are one of the only tires that can handle speeds in excess of 186mph, and will handle the weight of our cars without having issues.

I can confirm that the Hankook Ventus V12s, on my 20" Vossens, are quite stable at speeds over 160mph.

The DW is a great tire. Had it been available in my size, that's what I'd be using.

tires

I agree with the continental DW, depending on your location. They are a great tire here in Florida.

Hankook!!! all the way.

On a side note. I just had to replace 2 rear tires in an emergency. Cut a side wall on road debris late on a Sat evening.
Discount tire had only 2 tires in stock that would fit my car. Nitto 555 extreme. Got 1500+ miles on them so far. Quite happy with them.
I asked for the Hankooks but they did not have my size in stock.
