Xenon replacement
Hi everyone!! I have a SL55 AMG, Anyone know a quick way of changing a xenon head light on the passenger side? The driver side is no problem. But the other side is very tight. I do not want to take off my front bumper to do this.Any suggestion? thanks

No way around that - you have to take the front bumper off.

No Way, No How, you just change the bulb, its hard to get out.

I hate to throw this out, but the problem may not be the bulb. I found out the hard way thinking a new bulb would solve my problem. Turned out to be the starter and apparently the ballast was on its way out too. My SA told me more often than not when a xenon system is not working, the bulb is not the culprit.

While we are on the subject..seems like my zenon lights are equally not as bright as they used to be. Is it me or is something going bad? my 55 is 2003

Had to replace the ballast on my 05 CLK55. The passenger side I could get to from underneath, but the driver-side required me to pull the bumper. Took about 30 mins being careful.
Used ballast was $109 on ebay

2000 CLK-320
same problem-Am I right?
I have a 2000, CLK320 and the passenger headlight is intermitently out. Am i right to think it is the ballast? Could it be the ignitor?

all mb headlight elements are accessible via removing the front inner fender on each side (a few 10mm and 8mm screws). the only exception are ballasts on some models as they might require the front bumper to come off.
