Picking up my SL65 tomorrow...can't wait!
So, I've been driving a 2008 SL55 for a while now, and I've loved it. I've done some upgrades to it... Renntech stage 1, renntech lowering module, tint, spoiler, Passport radar/laser, iPod, etc. Super fast, super fun. Mint condition. Loved it. I wanted to take it to the next level, so started investigating upgrades. Both the engine, and aesthetics. Long story short... my 'investigation' led me to purchasing a 2009 SL65 with only 4500 miles. Mint condition, with a bunch of upgrades. Renntech wheels, renntech sport mufflers, Renntech ECU/TCU and more. Pushing 670HP now. Also dipped it in Carbon.. so front lips, diffuser, spoiler and more in carbon. Also, waiting to receive my carbon steering wheel and shifter knob. Have a new clear bra going on tomorrow, and then I pick it up. Will post pics soon.

Glad you found me on here. Been a long time admirer of the site... and had to join the fun. When do you get your CF lip and spoiler? Anxious to see pics.

Awesome. Can't wait to check it out. I love the lowered, more aggressive look that the front lip provides. Should look great on your ride.
FYI, may not get the car until tomorrow... had to make a pit stop at RennTech. The tire pressure sensors needed to be adjusted (apparently they didn't do it when they put the Renntech rims on).
Anyways... the waiting is DRIVING me crazy. Pun intended.

yes. You know the car? Or the company?
You can see my SL55 that I traded in on their website. They sure do make it look nice!

That is just disgusting...enjoy the animal...it's going to be a monster even after the newbody drops. Classic bodystyle for years to come and with those upgrades, the performance to keep you relevant for the next 10 years.

You found more pics of the ride. Sweet. What do I owe you for posting them? In a couple of pics of the front-end, you can really see how the orange marker lights stand out. They were driving me crazy so I smoked them. Will send pics. I swapped out the marker lights on my silver SL55 to the clear lights. It looked MUCH better with clear marker lights than the orange lights. I guess I got thing against orange.

Yes!!! I actually saw this car for sale on Ebay. If you type in Mercedes Renntech its one of the first cars to pop up. Awsome that a forum member picked it up. Enjoy it my friend. It looks like one amazing ride.

So, not picking up the SL65 today, as planned.
Unfortunately, it’s at a body shop. Yes, I said body shop. My hot, new, "show-room, mint condition" ride is at the body shop.
So here's what happened...
When I first saw the car, and fell in love... I noticed ONE imperfection. And it was the existing clear bra. (Now I know people have mixed feelings on clear bra's in general, as some feel because of the 'line' that they create in the hood (and front end) they should be done away with... but I think they're critical to the lifetime of the car). So, I want the clear bra on. However, the existing clear bra was not top quality. And it gave the front end, where it was applied, the slightest cloudy/smokey look, when the sunlight hit it just so. It almost gave it a 'greying' effect on the black car. Now, done right, and with the right equipment and product, this can be avoided. So, the plan was to remove the existing clear bra and install a new one.
Here's where things go south...
When we remove the existing clear bra we find a razor line in the paint... NO. This can't be! Say it ain't so. That was initiial reaction... but...it is easily fixable, by quality body shops. So, we took it to one, where it sits at the moment. I expect it to go back to specialists tomorrow, where it will sit for the weekend, waiting for new clear bra to go on Tues. Then detailed, then MINE!
In the meantime, I did go to see it this morning, since it got the CF parts installed yesterday and I wanted to check them out. I must say, the CF parts looked sick. The back end in particular, with the new, larger CF spoiler, and the CF diffuser really took it to another level. And the CF front lip is sweet too. (Later this month, I'll be receiving and installing CF fender vents, and CF steering wheel and shifter knob. That will be it for CF... for now. Maybe mirrors at some point).
I hate the waiting… but believe it will all be worth it.
Will post pics once I get it. Stay "tuned".

No, I have just seen it on eBay for awhile. I made an offer on it but they ignored me. I have been looking for an 09 for awhile. I bought one today. The renntech wheels are nice (I own set) but the rest of it doesnt have value to me. I like stock cars (except sometimes wheels). The renntech wheels will come off my 06 sl65 when I sell it and go on the 09.

NICE car!
Very clean, and certainly something I would love to trade mine for...
Strange how those headlights wanted me to just either laugh or puke at first sight!
And even more so the second and third time...
I couldn't figure out what the H**L they were thinking at the MB plant... Total melt down!
But NOW, I just LOOOVE them!
Especially with The Ricker's complementary "Area 51 diods" along the edges of the bonnet!

Just be careful on the clear bra and new pt...usually it takes about 3 weeks for a paint to fully cure. I just had parts of my GTR repainted and the painter warned me to wait 20 days before putting protective film on the car...I'm filming the whole car.
